Disney+ is Now Included in Most TV Packages!

Posted by a Sky employee

Hi everyone,

From 17 March, Disney+ Standard with Ads is now part of the Sky package for Sky Q/Glass/Stream customers. That means even more brilliant entertainment included in your monthly subscription, at no extra cost.

Whether you're diving into Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, National Geographic or the latest Star originals, we’d love to hear how you're finding the new addition.

💬 Tell Us:

  • Is everything working as expected?
  • Noticed anything unexpected in activation, billing or app behaviour?
  • Anything else you’d like to tell us?
Thanks
Kev

Hi @Kellymarie6262

https://help.disneyplus.com/en-GB/article/disneyplus-en-us-error-1026

Refreshing apps can take 24 hours, it's not an instant process. However if there was a bug, would have throught the factory reset should have resolved. Looking at that help article, it says slow or unstable internet connection could be a cause, what's your connection speed like? Are other apps and live TV working?

You could try connecting via an ethernet cable and turn off WiFi and see if that gets you past the error.

If that doesn't work, you can ask Sky for a replacement as these are only loaned to you. You will need to speak to Sky for this, as we are fellow subscribers.

Re: Disney+ is Now Included in Most TV Packages!

Myself and others I know who are already Disney subscribers don't seem to be offered to be billed as part of our Sky package, when we scan the QR code we get the new rate but we're asked to enter card details for billing.

Is the credit card details just for a once of charge and billing from then will revert to being billed by Sky?

The message does say

This payment method will apply to all your monthly app subscriptions. Future payments for all app subscriptions will be charged to this card.

which implies you're going to be billed via whatever card details you enter, the message on Stream says Sky will bill you per month.

@ThisRegard  Are you accessing your Discney+ account through the Sky Market Place tab?    The lowest tier is free, any additonal tiers are chatrgeable but should be taken via Sky's billing system  https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-TV/Your-Sky-TV-just-got-even-better-with-Disney/ba-p/5233029#

On your Sky Stream or Glass:

  • Select Disney+ from the Apps section or Use voice control to say "Disney+"
  • You will see an option to use your saved email or to select a different email
  • If you are new to disney you can create an account and will see options to upgrade to Disney+ without ad's
  • If you are already a Disney+ customer just use the same email to sign in to Disney+

Existing Disney+ user signing in with their Disney + email will be presented with a QR code to take you to Sky marketplace to pay for your subscription through Sky with a £5.99/€8.99 discount. That makes Disney+ Standard just £4 / €3 a month, and Premium only £9 / €7 a month.

If you pay direct to Disney+ your monthly payments will stop and annual payments will be refunded, If you pay with another provider you will need to cancel directly with them.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Re: Disney+ is Now Included in Most TV Packages!

Done it via the banner that appeared when when I logged in this morning and if I go via App subscriptions in My Products on the Stream, then change Subscription, it also says there's an upfront cost today, it's being treated as an App Subscription.

Re: Disney+ is Now Included in Most TV Packages!

Went that way, Disney is within Sky Marketplace and when I enter and choose my subscription as Premium, in the Check your order page it has a  Today's payment of the Premium amount.  Enter continue and it asks me to enter my card details.

@ThisRegard  I beleive Marketplace subs are billed to your card but still billed by Sky.

Re: Disney+ is Now Included in Most TV Packages!

Ok, so it's a separate payment, billed by Sky, but not part of your existing Stream package by the looks of it. Your Sky can be billed by direct debit but this has to via Visa.

Re: Disney+ is Now Included in Most TV Packages!

@ThisRegard if you're upgrading the bundled Disney+ to Premium, the extra £9 is billed to a debit/credit card rather than your Sky account.

Re: Disney+ is Now Included in Most TV Packages!

That seems to be how it works alright, a few misunderstandings around how it's billed

Sounds like for this Disney+, moving to a higher tier or moving from a higher tier to this Sky offer, that is the case.

Some other apps do go through your normal Sky account direct debit.

Will have to remember that Myself for further help on here going forwards for Disney+.
