Confirmation bias.- Terrible Sky Streaming and SAFe

I've been a Sky Streaming customer for around a year. I've now had enough experience to be pretty sure this is the worst entertainment platform I regularly use. If it wasn't for their Sports monopoly I wouldn't touch this mess with a bargepole.

In terms of the resilience of the stream, I get more drop outs/"wait for your programme to load etc" issues than any other service. From the same rooms I use zoom with no packet drop. Sky can't even keep a stream up.

The quality of the sound is woeful, with weird dropouts when they go to an ad. The picture quality is inferior.

I have Sky Streaming and Apple TV in my bedroom and living room. I have a 900mbps up/down connection and a solid mesh network. I never get dropouts on Apple TV.

Another personal favourite is the UHD/HD mess. Why can't they just give me the UHD feed whenever it's available? "Click here to watch in UHD?" - NO!!!

On top of this the Streaming interface is an utter mess. Whether it's returning to a programme you are just watching or navigating the guide, the UX is so very weak. Playlists don't really work either. Don't get me started on the ad skipping.

As a result I only use Sky Streaming where necessary. Basically for sport. Everything else I use Apple TV.

Coincidentally as someone who works in tech/product management, I heard that Sky use SAFE as a delivery methodology. If you know, you know.  Terrible Agile frameworks and terrible products seem to go hand in hand.

I am in exactly the same situation i hate my sky subscription only keeping it for premier league in UHD. I use apple tv whenever i can. I have all the same issues you mention also have excellent internet 900meg and have no issues on any other platforms. My biggest hate though is the ads in on demand at this price point it should be fully ad free with on demand or at least offer the option to remove them for yet another additional price. To rub salt into the wounds the charge 5 or 6 pounds to ad skip which you could do better on any freeview box. The ad skip never takes you exactly where you want either a few second of ads before show continues or a few minutes into the show. My contract is up in july im seriously wondering to just watch premier league in standard def on now tv. I would have loved to watch the new walking dead shows they have got but i refuse to watch with it full of ads.

Same here been using it for nearly a year now and It's appalling.  We actually use external streaming apps for most of the channels.  The puck doesn't like connecting to our Wi-Fi (also provided by Sky) so we keep getting the you're not connected to the internet messages yet the apps, iPads etc are still connected.  Thinking of keeping the Wi-Fi and our phones but cancelling the channels and moving to Now tv.

To be fair, NowTV is even worse. The picture quality will have you yearning for VHS. I let them off htat because it's a sideline. Sky Streaming is supposed to be main event.

@Mr+Michael+P NOWTV is HD not SD ... for Sport many find Boost is required and getting the £2 deal for Boost just takes a cancel during the free trial😉
