Audio dropouts
Public service announcement...
Quite a few of us have been experiencing audio drop outs when viewing UHD Atmos content on Stream but I think I've cracked it ..
A couple of nights ago I went digging for info and found out that we may have been given duff advice about using Pass-Through for the audio setting.
After a bit of reading I found that Dolby Digital Plus is the correct setting and this was backed up by reading the information page on the Dolby website. It turns out this option has all the codec files and will decode almost all Dolby audio types providing your audio kit supports this setting.
I'm now connected via eARC, Dolby Digital Plus output on Stream and Pass-Through on the TV. I've not had a single drop out since last night.

Re: Audio dropouts
So to clarify is the difference that your TV is now pass through to the soundbar? What was it before?
Has this also helped with lip sync at all?

Re: Audio dropouts
Previously I had the Puck and TV set to pass through but now I've got the puck set to Dolby Digital Plus and the TV to pass through.
The only difference is that the soundbar doesn't display that it's outputting Atmos on the display and instead shows Dolby Digital.
I've checked through the Dolby website and this output format contains all the relevant codecs. The clarity of the sound, deep bass and wide sound scape tells me that it's definitely outputting Atmos.
No audio drops and all perfectly in sync as it should be via eARC.
Amazing what your mind investigates when you've had a gin and tonic or two..

Re: Audio dropouts
Thank you Nigelb so much very much appreciated for sharing this, it has been beyond frustrating with the sound dropout on atmos sometimes has much as 8 times or more in a single film. I have changed this setting most shows are showing as Dolby Digital Plus say when watching ITV for example but sounds great and when selecting atmos sky movies shows has Dolby atmos on my Samsung q990d soundbar so that's perfect and sounds great. Thank you again I think this post should be pinned as this has been a massive issue for many and I think it's finally fixed 👍

Re: Audio dropouts
Update: still rock solid, no drops and my soundbar is actually displaying Atmos on the relevant content... I now officially love Sky Stream ❤️

Re: Audio dropouts
Update - Same as well been watching for a few days now rock solid as well not a single audio drop sounds great and atmos labelled correctly everything else stereo, etc shows as Dolby digital plus but sounds really good and getting atmos labelled correctly and no drop outs as made sky stream much more enjoyable. If we could just have true ad free sky on demand content instead of sky ad skip and be more like the ad free plan of say Netflix or Disney plus then sky stream would be perfect and worth the price of ad skip add on until that changes I will just keep adding it as a free 2 month trial.

Re: Audio dropouts
Hi there,
I am glad I found this forum.
I was having the sound dropouts on Sky Stream with the passthrough setting so I changed to Dolby Digital Plus and things worked without issue for about 2 weeks. However, I am nowing seeing some audio dropouts creep back in. (Although not nearly as much as before).
Is anyone experiencing this?
Any suggestions to help fix this issue?
Thanks
