No. It's different, but works fine for the way I wish to consume TV.

Thanks for that.

No regrets then, ditching the dish?

For me, no. (The dish is still in place should I change my mind while Sky Q is still available).

Some things to bear in mind .....

stream doesn't record in the conventional sense it just adds bookmarks to shows to open in their streaming apps (although it can occasionally could record )

add on packs are needed to forward ad breaks and to view in uhd

a strong fast (roughly 30mb at least) connection is required for 1 device

I would suggest research on YouTube and skys own video guides to ensure you are fully armed with info

@Tom+Adamson

If I didn't need to move from Q to Stream I wouldn't have made the change this year. The large tree next to us has become larger, during spring & summer months there is little to no satellite reception.

The UI takes a little getting used to, like most change - you can soon get the hang of it.

The picture quality is superb

I find some of the apps clunky - so I use an Apple TV box or the apps on the TV

If you have an unreliable ISP, you're kinda stuck for TV content

I haven't experianced some of the issues you see on the forums (puck locking up, black screens etc.)

I expect I would have made the change in a year or so anyway, given my alternative with Sky is Q with no signal for 6+ months of the year - I won't complain too much.

Will I look at something like a TV subscription from NOW, perhaps.

Re: Anybody regret leaving SKYQ for Stream

I moved into the world of stream when I needed to replace a bedroom TV and decided to get a Glass 🙄. I didn't do it blindly having been in a Sky store and looked into it in detail. I decided ok ditch Q get a puck too.

Very quickly I realised that Stream was very beta full of niggles.

I stuck with it for nearly 6 months but finally in agreement with Sky walked away with compensation, TV returned etc.

Streaming is the future Q will be gone in under 10 years so I decided on Apple and never looked back.

Stream is marmite for sure. It will improve over time I expect. I'd say don't restrict your options when looking for a Q alternative 😉

Do you regret getting Sky Stream ... did you consider getting NOWTV and the other streaming apps on  a Smart TV as an alternative?

Ditto.

No regrets.

Sky Stream is a good uplift in pq, apps work much better across the board than Q.

I never use the TV apps.

The UI works well for me even with a tiny learning curve, but love its ease now.

Would not want to go back.

I don't regret switching from Q to Stream because it made me realise that I was paying far too much for a TV service that a large part of which I could get elsewhere for a lot less money or for free.

I was with Sky TV in various forms, from Sky+ to Sky+HD to Sky Q to Stream over about 17 years.

Being a single TV household, I really liked the PVR aspect of Sky+ and Sky Q - it made watching TV a pleasure, as it was simple to use and reliable.

When we got fast 500Mbps FTTP broadband installed and realised that we were streaming the majority of our TV viewing anyway from apps, I decided to try out Sky Stream as it made sense to get everything from the one place.

Compared to Sky Q though, Stream made watching TV a frustrating experience. It was relatively simple to use but just wasn't reliable in the same way Sky Q was. Everything just felt slower, more sluggish and glitchy. Granted, the apps were a bit quicker than those on the Sky Q box, but we rarely used them on Q, relying more on the apps on our smart TV at the time, which were fast and easy to use.

The best thing about Sky Stream were the live channel streams - they were easy to switch between, had very good picture quality and we rarely had any issues with them. Everything else: the fast forwarding, rewinding, ad-skipping, playlist, lip sync etc, just weren't in the same league as Sky Q because everything was coming down a broadband connection, rather than from a satellite or hard drive. It just lacked consistency so we got rid of it and cancelled Sky completely.

With a bit of research we discovered that we could everything we would normally watch from other sources via apps on an Apple TV 4K box. We could get discounted annual app subscriptions for completely ad-free services, some with 4K & Dolby Vision & Atmos, and get any Sky-only content from the NOW app. It works quickly and reliably and has transformed our TV viewing experience back to being a pleasureable one.

But that's just us. Don't get me wrong, Sky Stream can and does work well enough for some people, and is probably the best way to get huge quantities of live sport in the best quality possible (if that's your bag), but for others, like me, it just doesn't cut it.

The only way to find out if it will work for you is to try it. You can switch from Q to Stream and go back to Q if you find you don't like it. I still get contacted by Sky more than 6 months after leaving with half price offers to return to either Stream or Q, but have no need to.

I have no regrets about switching from Q to Stream because it led me to find an alternative means of getting all the TV we want from other cheaper, more reliable app-based sources on better hardware than Sky could provide us with.

I switched a year ago from Sky + HD to Stream and concur with this.

its all based on preference - aside from watching sports live all my other content was always recorded on-demand viewing and even then I typically used the various apps and didn't record that much.

Re: Anybody regret leaving SKYQ for Stream

Sky stream does record. Most sky programming is recorded via the cloud as it pretty much all of Ch5
