Annoying picture and sound problems with Sky Stream.

With a very poor menu system eg a menu and then another menu identical to the one you gust picked Sky Stream is getting worse.

All my streaming services via Internet work seamlessly in UHD from Amazon and Netflix I have. Video of Sky TV programs waiting to load. Sound stuttering, pictures stuttering and green lines while watching commercial in the break of UHD live football. Not good for a supposedly premium organisation. Recording anything can be hit and miss it also sends you to third party's such as Iplayer. ItvX and others and even then you have to navigate to see the program you recorded. Much preferred the older system or my previous Virgin TV package. Looks like the Sky site is chockablock with people who hate the service and problems. What do you think. Not sure I'll stay after my contract runs out.

@Charles10 have you tried any of the sky help pages or even phoned sky to report your issues and try to get them resolved?

"Chockablock" seems an exaggeration .... I'm surprise how few have issues😉

It seems some have issue because of their ISPs ... Sky need to check which ISP a prospective customer uses before selling Stream plrocucts to that customer🤔

First off what you describe is exactly how the system is supposed to work and how it is advertised..... anyone who asks will always be told to do your due diligence before buying .... ie read some review a watch some YouTube videos etc . Helps make an informed decision

secondly any forum that is created to help users is going to be mostly full of people who have problems.... this one is no exception. Not many people search for and post about how their system works fine .

thirdly there is a 31 day cooling off period where you can return your equipment and cancel your services or switch to the sky alternative Q which uses satellite and allows for local recording of shows

Ha, the Sky help system sent me to the online discussion pages to seek help. So I'm following the protocol to see it anybody has an experience or information that I haven't tried. Bear in mind I'm an Eletrcal Engineer. Hope this give you some type of reference to how I'm approaching this. Thanks

12 it seems those were easy to obtain and another 10 that seemed to pertain to the symptoms I have. But then I was just wondering if everyone was having the same problem or just a few. I do like the word chockablock, haven't used it much in say the last 50 years. Biggest problem is this forum is not integrated into the Sky Stream TV channel selection that could include a wider audience. I think most people are just putting up with a poor service. It's an English thing I suppose. Or should I say British 😁🎩

I like the word chockablock too - I use it regularly!

I think you're right in saying that it's very much a British thing to put up with poor service. Many people just can't be bothered. I was round at a friend's place the other day who also has Sky Stream, and their puck was on in the background whilst we were chatting. Their son was watching something live and I noticed it kept freezing every few minutes then would glitch and speed up to catch up with the live stream. I got them to do the Netflix speed test and it came up with 87Mbps, more than fast enough. I asked if it's done this a lot and they said it's done it since they got Stream over six months ago. I also asked if they'd contacted Sky about it and they said no, that they've just gotten used to it now.

I would bet that there are a lot of people who do the same. They just think, oh, it's new, it's just settling down.... then 6 months later it's still doing the same thing.

Re: Annoying picture and sound problems with Sky Stream.

Sorry to hear that. The problem is if everyone complained it might get Sky to sort it. Perhaps The Rip off Britain program can get people to complain and ask viewers if they have any praise or problem with Sky service and the equipment. The thought, Fit for use, springs to mind. I also wonder if people with light sensitivity could be induced to go into an epileptic fit (while it stutters freezes and then fast forwards). m?mm

It is interesting that Sky's budget service NOWTV does not have those issues🤔

Not a chance they'd ever link the forum to the box, there's not one single company in the world that would be daft enough to do that. people who don't have any issues don't post on forums to say so generally, admittedly a lot of people who do have issues won't come on here either but it's undoubted that it is not a fair and equal distribution of customers.

That said, the complaints on here have put me off the thing entirely and I'll be trying for a free upgraded Q box shortly since we've just updated our TV from an old HD TV to a nice new shiny UHD set.

Re: Annoying picture and sound problems with Sky Stream.

Sounds like a plan. Good luck with it. Put on the forum how it's working as I might change to that in 13 months.
