Al Jazeera and TRT World not available on Stream

I just moved my account from a router and dish to Sky Stream. No one told me certain channels would 'disappear' . Anyone have any information?

Sky publishes the list of channels available on their streaming platform here: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/tv-channel-list-sky-glass

Not all channels available on satellite are available on the streaming platform, as the satellite broadcasting network is more open, whereas the streaming service is a closed network where channels must enter a commercial agreement with Sky to be carried.

When looking to switch to a different type of TV service it's always important to do your own independent research and to never trust a salesperson. Sky Q and Sky Stream are complicated and very different systems and not all Sky employees have a firm grasp on the differences between them.

There have been many reports over the years since Glass & Stream launched of customers being told that they'd get all the same channels when switching from Q to Stream. But, as you've discovered, you don't.

If you decide that you can't deal with the loss of these channels then you can still switch back to Sky Q if you wish. You'll need to ring Sky to do so.

I believe Al Jazeera has a live stream on YouTube which can be reached using the app on Stream.

Please consider adding more international news channels such as Al Jazeera and TRT World. The current range is limited, and adding more global news channels would give Sky customers more variety which is currently needed.

If you are new to the forum then welcome to the Community, which is predominantly made up of Sky customers helping other Sky customers. You aren’t talking to Sky by posting here.

Sky are currenly owned by Comcast, an American company. They have ultimate control over which services are allowed on their platform. SkyOS has no app store or ability to add alternative streams from other sources. 

If you would like more news channel options then I would suggest purchasing a device which gives you more control over content availability. 

There are multiple streaming devices, running multiple operating systems, most of which have app stores allowing you, the customer, to choose which apps and news outlets you can view. 

Sky is a great 'one stop shop' for most entertainment and sport content, but is lacking in other areas.
