Hi I've just purchases frankenstien the 1931 version it did say the movie was free can anyone help me is this movie free

I believe there are conversations going on regarding some movies of this age being Royalty Free (ie - expiry of copyright) but that's quite a different thing to streaming companies charging customers for buying it from them.

Wikipedia has a list of 'notable' films which either didn't establish or failed to renew copyright:

The most famous is probably the original Night of the Living Dead where the cinema distribution didn't have a copyright notice on the celluloid prints.

that you should have been sent an email acknowledgment and it will show you what the cost was so have you looked for this ?
