Are you casting this film via Google Chromecast or something else ?

Hi @annmarsh

I only just saw this thread and glad you got it sorted out.

I would be interested to know, were you using either a chromecast or a Sony TV with built in Chromecast

Or something else

I just have an interest in what works and what doesn't 🙂

Thanks

Re: E5000 error code

My tv is JVC with built in chromecast. When watching films that I had purchased it worked fine. Just that I had credit on my account and decided to rent a film that the error code kept appearing, but eventually it did work

Thanks for confirming @annmarsh

This is a question that keeps coming up (ways to view rentals on a TV)  so it's useful to know that the JVC built in Chromecast does work

Re: E5000 error code

It doesn't actually work, I'm having the same problem. Got a JVC tv with built in chrome cast and I am trying to cast a rented movie. Been trying for 30 mins and it's still not working, it is a joke. Constantly getting error code 5000

Re: E5000 error code

We purchased a rental through sky store with the intention of casting it to the TV. 0 issues buying the product (shock) but error code 5000 came up everytime we tried to use it. The movie began to play on my mobile(casting device) so sky thinks we've started watching, when we've not, so we've got 24hrs to somehow watch the movie or it's money pi55ed up the wall. If there's an issue with sky store and chrome cast then that should be clearly stated on the site and app to avoid this happening again

Hi @F.+Meldrum

Was the rental one of the new premiere rentals ?

So far as I know - due to extra copy protection put into these - you have to watch them via an HDMI cable - I think these premiere rentals can't be cast

if it's one of those - I would contact the Skystore team and ask for a resolution ( refund ?)

To be honest - even if it's not a premiere - you still need to contact them. Best of luck

Re: E5000 error code

Rented a film from sky store on my phone, pressed the cast button provided at the top and it was playing trailers fine. When it came time to play the film it keeps saying error now I have 47 hours left to watch the film. Looking at the previous comments it's a continuous problem for people and should be sorted straight away as we are losing money!!! Won't be recommending sky to anyone

Hi @Steph.h16

Was it a premiere rental or a regular one ?

I don't think premiere rentals will Chromecast

Whichever it is - my suggestion is to contact the Skystore team through this link. The live chat should be available in the morning

hope you get it resolved
