Re: sky pin
I have never had to enter a pin number on BBC, ITV channel 4/5 or Free view before the water shed, only on Sky. Even the game Crystal Maze required a pin to watch.

Guess you don't record anything that warrants it then. An example that immediately comes to mind is Silent Witness

Re: sky pin
I just downloaded a show from C4 on to my sky box it's 22.56pm and it asked me to put pin in before I can watch it. How is that a thing ?

Re: sky pin
To stop kids watching something that they shouldn't, better to be safe than sorry for 2 seconds of your time to enter a 4 digit code!

Re: sky pin
To stop kids watching they shouldn't you mean like Crystal maze. You honestly think that the kids don't know the pin how naive of you.Even Ofom admit that. Why should anyone pay for a service then be controlled what they can watch.

Largely due to the moral panic when multichannel 'foreign owned' satellite television arrived over three decades ago (long pre-dating streaming services)
Incidentally, 'what you can watch' has always been controlled by someone.

Re: sky pin
Because these general transmission channels cannot offer programming outside of broadcast rules. So their content must be applicable to time it is broadcast. Hence no need for PIN.

Re: sky pin
If you're watching age restricted content pre watershed then it'll always ask for the pin regardless of your settings. It is an Ofcom requirement that Sky must adhere to and cannot be overriden by Sky or you.

Re: sky pin
That doesn't make it right .. I'm WAY over 21, so what's restricted?? If it was once a day but ever time I change channels.. who is ofcom protecting in my house with two adults?? It's one reason I'll not be rejoining

Re: sky pin
It's not Skys doing. It's legislation so perhaps contact your MP if it's that big an issue for you.

No, but it does make it the law of the land (specifically the Communications Act 2003 as enforced through the Broadcasting Code) and any regulated EPG platform not complying would face significant financial penalties and ultimately loss of their transmission rights.
