problems on a shared xbox1X

re my sky Q subscription with my partner who lives at another address.

He watches sky chanels via his xbox 1X.

All has been fine up until a few days ago and it suddenly stopped streaming sky chanels.

The xbox asked for a user ID and password which was entered.

The details were not accepted.

I rang sky and they suggested changing my password and said that should work but if not uninstall the app then reinstall it and log in again.

All that was done and still it will not accept the sign in details.

All the sign in details are correct as I have accessed my skyQ account online .

Can any one shed some light on this as I simply cannot get through to sky tonight to discuss this glitch. Thanks

@Linquist1  I'm afraid neither the forum nor Sky will help you to continue to circumvent paying for an active subcription at another address.

Partner or not they need to have their own subscription if they are living at a different address and seperate to yours.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

@GD1 , @Linquist1  is correct:

Sky customers can share the service with others by setting up the Sky Go live and on-demand service.

In a nutshell, Sky lets you register up to six devices to your account including phones and games consoles. However, you can stream on only two at a time, or four if you’re subscribed to Sky Go Extra (£5 per month on top of your plan), Sky Q Multiscreen and Sky Glass/Sky Stream Whole Home subscriber.

To spread the love, just share your Sky ID with your friend or loved one, which they can use to log in to the Sky Go app. As soon as they sign in on a new device, it will be automatically registered by Sky as one of your six streaming devices.

You can manage and remove devices via the settings on the Sky Go app on your mobile, computer, or on the web at sky.com.

I am just another Sky customer!

@Linquist1 I don't share my account each member of my household has access to their own Sky Q mini boxes.

If you are the bill payer then you are the Primary Account Holder with a Primary Sky ID

You are also the Authorised Sky ID which can add additional users known as Secondary Sky  ID

So in theory your partner needs to have his own Sky ID and password and you as the Authorised Sky ID will have to add him

@Linquist1At one time it was very clear in the T&Cs that it could only be used at the registered address, excluding Sky Go. However I can no longer find this in the current T&Cs.

Re: problems on a shared xbox1X

Thanks for your reply. My partner has been sharing for years but suddenly it's stopped. The customer service lady at sky asked me to change the password and then it should work, but it didn't.

The sky customer service lady confirmed that I can share a device at another address.

The reason I asked for help on this forum is because all of a sudden the sign in doesn't work and I wondered if anyone knew why.

@Linquist1How do you share, as far as I am aware you need a viewing card for both boxes, if there is a different viewing card at where you share the card may have been blocked as you can only have one card.

Re: problems on a shared xbox1X

Hi.Its the same as netflix sharing ,but I believe they have just stopped that now.

You can also share a disney subscription with another household too.

The person at the other address gets the sky app on their device and sign in with the account holders user ID and password. Now I think the viewing can only be shared on two devices now.

We have been sharing for a while biut like I said the devise on sky has all of a sudden stopped

@Linquist1Yes the app would be "Sky Go" have you changed any of your subscriptions recently as the number of apps you can use with both Netflix and Sky Go depends on subscription levels. If for example you take off "multiroom" you lose Sky Go.

Hey @Linquist1,

Netflix will soon be implementing things to stop sharing accounts but this hasn't started yet, I think you're best looking at this thread: https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Go-Apps/Sky-go-stopped-working-on-Xbox-series-X/td-p/4277840

Re: problems on a shared xbox1X

@Chloe-W22  thanks for your reply.I have looked on the link you sent and it seems a lot of people are having the same problem with the Sky go app on their xbox 1X.

Is there a glich . The app wont accept any passwords, not even after the app is deleted and reinstalled. It just states Sky Go is not available yet ?

Hi @Chloe-W22 Sky Go working on two

XBOX Series S disc free version

One signed in using Authorized Sky ID and one signed in using Secondary Sky ID

Out of curiosity is the Sky Go app for the Xbox X/S the same version or different?

Fair comment @Linquist1 but what has sharing your subscription make Sky Go stop working your partner is signed in as you so unless you haven't got Sky go extra plus or multiroom on your account it shouldn't make any difference if your partner was living in the same household meaning same address or using an hotels internet and tv whilst watching Sky Go via Xbox One X
