looking after customers

I felt that it's totally bad that sky does not look after their customers, especially when they've given nearly 10 years of service. does anyone else think the same?

What makes you say that?

Re: looking after customers

Not look after in what way? They've always provided me with the service I've paid for. They even occasionally throw in freebies (although as in the current Spiderman offering I don't always take them up on it). When I get to the end of my contract they offer me good deals to renew in exchange for me not doing what I wouldn't do anyway - I'm always happy to sign up for another year or even two.

Are you expecting them to send someone round to clean your house or mow your lawn?

@Amyb4780

New customers are offered good discounts as an incentive to join. Most companies do this now. You probably took advantage of such a new customer deal when you first joined Sky.

If you can't negotiate an acceptable price for renewing then perhaps consider a move to an alternative provider, but when that deal nears its end you'll be in the same position with them, and will be able to rejoin Sky if you wish and take up any new customer deals available at that time.

Skys owners Comcast do appear to prioritise getting new customers over retaining long standing ones. Other providers do this too so it seems to be usual practice.

Your mind set is entirely wrong in my opinion, you haven't "given nearly 10 years of service", you've merely paid 10 years of TV/BB/mobile or whatever to a corporation.

Admittedly one of the things I really don't like is the "thank you for being such a loyal customer" nonsense on every contact as it always sounds sarcastic to my ears, although that may just be me.

Have you never purchased anything else such as house or car insurance @Amyb4780  because it is all the same, including other broadband or tv providers.

Sky aren't running a business model that is any different.

Are you experiencing any issues with your Sky service as this is a community support forum, not one for general chats and moans.

Re: looking after customers

I agree. The jump in payments is ridiculous. The only way to avoid it is to jump between Sky and Virgin or EE every two years which is a hassle.

I would also prefer it if I could choose the channels I wanted as part of my package as they give me loads of channels I never watch. Perhaps if every channel had a cost and we could just select those channels and pay for them and nothing else it would help.

...aha!  The reason people moan and stay 😊

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Sky has been billing for a channel 'bundle' over nearly four decades: I suspect that's unlikely to change.

Perhaps keep in mind that the vast majority of channels in the satellite EPG don't receive any part of the subscription you are paying Sky.
