connection cables

looking to move to SKY.  My home is minimalistic in design. What cables will i see when connecting to the SKY Q box and to the mini-boxes at each of 5 TV's.  I assume that I have power to the Tv. Power to the SKY box and HDMI from the SKY Q box to the TV plus the terestial co-ax and then the same to each mini box.

@Stanley+Annison

You can't have 5 mini boxes. You can only have a maximum of 4 mini boxes loaned to you by Sky. You can watch Sky content on two minis and the main box at the same time. You may be able to use a third mini box if the first one in use is being used for a streaming app ie: Netflix or DIsney+.

All 2TBs and the UHD/HDR 1TB permit two mini boxes. Each mini box which is loaned to you may be subject to a one off upfront charge but you only need one Sky Q monthly Multiscreen subscription.

Hi @Stanley+Annison

Don't forget that there are two cables from the Satellite dish to the main Q box.

These enter the property with a hole drilled through the outside wall at the time of install.  Also there is no terrestrial aerial into the Q box and if you want to also receive terrestrial channels on your TV set then any aerial connection would need to go to your main Television.

Minis have no cables from the dish and work by WiFi from the main Q box.  So that's just a power lead to the mini and HDMI cable from mini to TV.

If you are new to Sky maybe Sky Stream would suit you better. There is no Satellite dish required and so no dish cables needed for the stream pucks which just need power lead and HDMI to Televisions. They stream direct from WiFi connection to your router

You can have up to six pucks installed although I believe you can only order Four at a time.

There is no 'terrestrial co-ax' involved in Q.  If you choose to run such cabling from a roof aerial to the DTTV tuner in a television set, that's up to you, but Q doesn't use it.

As indicated above, the main Q box (only) has a pair of coaxial cables from the satellite dish.  Q Mini boxes have no coaxial connection points.

Re: connection cables

Thank you.

Matters have moved on as I'm still waiting to hear from the Landlord that there is a dish.  SKY say no dish = no SKY Q even though we will have Wi-Fi. They suggested SKYstream but can't record.

f no dish then EETV seems best but concerned about SKY Sports quality.

Is it possible to have EETV without the NOW Sky sports and a separate SKY Router with only the SKY Sports package?  Or as it is over the internet via Wi-FI, the picture might not be any better?

I note that you have helped many on these forums, for which I thank you.

Thatvis correct: Sky Q is a satellite television platform

It's not possible to have Sports by itself on either Q or Glass/Stream.

As this is a Sky forum you'll need to check with EE about their packages but if I'm understanding your question, then you can't get Sky Sports along with your Sky broadband (or anything else bar a telephone line).

I believe NowTV Sports is available through EE TV along with others and it would all be through the internet. It does use an (optional) aerial for some Freeview channels so quality can be variable depending on the source (including everything through the internet). Again, go and check out their forums presuming they exist.
