Wireless password

My Sky Q box fails to remember the wireless password. If the box is ever turned off or I lose the wireless I have to reenter the long password ? My wireless is provided by Virgin. Historically I had a Sky router and the Qbox remembered the password.  Any advice ?

Re: Wireless password

@RobL1Is your Q box near your router?  Simplist answer if it is, run an etherner cable and that take WiFi out of the picture.

Re: Wireless password

Thanks for the advice. The router is close, next room 5 m away,  but it would be difficult for a cable, "carpet". Cant understand wht it worked fine on my SKY router. ?

Hi @RobL1

Don't know if it will help but have you split the 2.4 and 5 Ghz bands on the router?

The connection may by more stable if you split the bands and then carry out a network reset on the Q box .

First reset your broadband router after splitting.
On 3rd party broadband and your router does not have a reset button, reboot it by disconnecting the power lead for 30 secs and then reconnecting.
Wait until the router is completely back and running and then try a Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to connect by WiFi to your router. Even if reset is not listed there is still an option to connect by WiFi to Sky or 3rd party router
On 3rd party (non Sky ) broadband then you need to enter the SSID and password for the router 2.4 Ghz WiFi band.
