Which Netflix subscription?

Hi, I have Sky and thought netfliex was included but then I found I had been logged out of netflix on my tv and phone and when I try to sign in I am asked to pick a package and I dont know which one to opt for.  I know which I'd prefer but don't want to choose until I know Sky will include it in my package with them.  Thank you

Sky Ultimate TV includes Netflix Basic (then upgraded by Sky add-ons).

Sky Signature does not include Netflix.

Signing into a Netflix app on a Sky platform using existing Netflix credentials generates an instruction to Netflix to switch billing to Sky.

On Sky Q, the Sky HD add-on upgrades Netflix Basic to Netflix Standard.

Then the Sky UHD add-on upgrades Netflix Standard to Netflix Premium.

Re: Which Netflix subscription?

Is this a fact because I just took out new contract. Have uhd pack and they've given me basic netflix with ads.

My last contract I had premium netflix.

hi @eazy10

This used to be the case for SKY Q customers (I am not sure about Glass/Stream) but not since

Mid December 2023  (shortly after Netflix changed their subscriptions to include the with Ads base level)

now  the levels are :

Netflix  (Base level) is the With Ads service  - 2 Screens in HD (list cost £4 - although is included in Ultimate Stream package  I think)
Boost to Netflix Standard - 2 Screens in HD Ad free  (list price an additional £6  thus £10 in total for Netflix)
Boost to Netflix Premium - 4 Screens  up to UHD/HDR  (list price an additional £11 thus £15 in total for Netflix)

P.S. When you pay via SKY, you still cannot, currently, add the 'extra member' add on for use by family members not in your physical household that is available for those paying directly to Netflix

BTW Any major changes to subscription including Renewal would mean a move to the new structure

Re: Which Netflix subscription?

Help appreciated - Sky Q 2TB ox user:

I currently have the Sky Ultimate TV add On which gives me Netflix HD without adverts.

I have just bought a 4K TV and want Netflix 4K but for the life of me can see no way to change the package I have. I am unwilling to change my Sky package without understanding what I will receive because it will re-contract me.

On my Sky Q 2TB box I can choose signal in 2160p when a screen accepting 2160p is attached to it (not yet delivered) - do I need any upgrade at all?

Does subscribing to Ultra HD also upgrade Netflix?

Do I need to upgrade to Ultra HD THEN options to upgrade to Netflix become available?

Are Sky Cinema films in 4K when you have the Ultra HD package?

Is BBC in 4K when you have the Ultra HD pack?

Why is it so unclear what you are subscribing to when you look at the Sky app / website?

It feels like there is actually not that much content in 4K (am I right?)

Bit of a list there but as far as I can see, these questions are not answered on the Sky website.

Thanks for any assistance.

To use the box to watch any apps in 4K you do not need the SKY UHD add on - setting it 2160p alone means that the box will 'upscale' any non UHD  content  rather than the TV doing so - although you do need to set it to 2160p to be able to watch any 4K/UHD content

Does subscribing to Ultra HD also upgrade Netflix?

no  - once upon a time it did but not any more there is a special Boost to Netflix Premium Add on

(as per my post last year above)

Do I need to upgrade to Ultra HD THEN options to upgrade to Netflix become available?

see above - the SKY UHD add on has no bearing on Netflix

Are Sky Cinema films in 4K when you have the Ultra HD package?

Many films are available in UHD but not all - on SKY Q UHD films (& other shows)  are download only

Is BBC in 4K when you have the Ultra HD pack?

You do not need the UHD add on for BBC iplayer in 4K -only 'V3' boxes (Hardware version 32B2xxx)  have a UHD capable version of iPlayer but we recommend using the TVs own iPlayer anyway

Why is it so unclear what you are subscribing to when you look at the Sky app / website?

It feels like there is actually not that much content in 4K (am I right?)

Compared with all the content availble then 4K/UHD is limited - probably most SKY users use it for Sport but Cinema fans may also do so

Bit of a list there but as far as I can see, these questions are not answered on the Sky website.

Thanks for any assistance.

@Masher964

Subscription to Sky HD used to upgrade Netflix Basic to Netflix Standard, and Sky UHD upgraded Netflix Standard to Netflix Premium.

This is no longer the case

Netflix Standard with Adverts now requires a separate add-on ('boost') to move to Netflix Standard, and then another to Netflix Premium.

hi @Masher964

May I also suggest you check which box you do have Home - Settings - System Info - Hardware Version

If it is 32B0xxx then you have a (V1) UHD but non HDR 2TB Box
If it is 32B1xxx then you have a (V2) UHD HDR 2TB Box (which has a separate Power supply)
If it is 32B2xxx then you have a (V3) UHD HDR 1TB or 2TB Box

HDR is the big difference rather than UHD on its own - Disney+ needs to be HDR for UHD , I don't think Netflix does but you may feel that UHD/SDR is not worth the upgrade from HD

(HDR - High Dynamic Range , SDR - Standard Dynamic Range)
