Using my current Sky Q + multi room with another b/band provider

Hi I currnetly have BB via Sky (but not full fibre as not on my street as yet), Cityfibre have been bombarding me with offers to switch to their full fibre. I think I have found a decent deal with Talktalk Fibre (via city), but before I hit the button I just wanted to check that my Sky Q & multi rooms will be compatible with the new fibre set up.

I love my TV set up & do not want any issuues with how it is currently running.

The TT router free in the package is an Amazon EERO pro 6x2 (not entirly sure why I need two).

Reason for swap is currenty I am paying £43PM for Sky BB 50mbps (contract ends Jan 25).

Talk deal is £28PM for 12mths for 900MBPS 12mths, 13th month 150MBPS.

Plus City give me £150 paypal reward for switching.

Thanks H 🙂

Is there a way of testing if the mini box's will pick up the signal from the SKY Q box before I switch?

Wondering if there is a setting I can change in settings.

Thanks

Hi @Betts1

Carry out a Network Reset on the mini.
Network Reset found in mini Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to WPS with main Q box.
You will be asked to press the WPS button on the main Q box (not the mini as the Network reset will start the mini WPS automatically).

This will ensure that the mini box is connected to your main Q box and not the Sky Router.  This will give you the best indication.   However there is no guarantee.

hi @Betts1

the key thing you need to be aware of, is that when your home wifi is not SKY the mini boxes do not use your wifi but instead connect to the main box via a Wifi generated by the SKY Q main box.

Thus if the boxes use wifi rather than ethernet then it will dpend on where you mini boxes are in relation to the main box (or each other) and whether the signal will be good enough.

If it is not you may be able to get a SKY Q wifi booster

The eero pro 6 is not a router, it's a wifi mesh system.
