Update on Sky Q and Starlink

Hi All,

just an update on my move from Sky Broadband to Starlink with Sky Q and 3 mini boxes. ....

drum roll ...

In short ..it all works fine but I have been very specific about my setup .

I have two distinct networks in the house. The Starlink one, from the Starlink router....and my house one from a TPlink router which is connected via ehternet to the Starlink router in "Dynamic IP mode". This means that the only devices directly attached to the Starlink router ( and hence network ) are the Sky boxes and one IP address for the TPlink router.

The main Q box is connected to the Starlink router over 5GHz wifi via an ethernet connection into a range extender ( which is linked to the Starlink router ). This way the Q box thinks its hard wired to the Starlink router.

The mni boxes are on wifi.

The key point here ...and I think this is why it all works.....is that I also have a sky booster 2 attached via wifi to it all. I dont see the booster doing anything...but whenever it is swithced on , the whole setup stabilises. If I switch it off, I get fuzzy pictures and lost connection to the minis etc. I think I read somewhere else that this is how someone else "fooled" their Q system into thinking it was attached to a Sky broadband net.....

Not sure how...but it works.

If you log into the booster...you can see the 2.4GHz connection to the Starlink wifi and the 5GHz connection to the Sky Q wifi mesh it uses.

So there we are.

Hope this helps .
