UHD for Sky Q (Multiscreen)

Is there an option for Sky Q customers with Multiscreen and UHD to be able to watch UHD content / sports outside the main box?

I understand Mini boxes don't support UHD but is there an alternative to stream those channels (e.g. sports) in UHD instead?

Not for Sky Q, the only service that can do this is Sky Stream as each puck is able to stream UHD content.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Hi @Aviate   For TNT Sports you could use Discovery+ if you have the App on your TV.

Thanks. Unfortunate that there is no option for Sky Q customers with both packages.

Hi @Aviate   In that case I don't understand your statement. Discovery+ Premium comes with TNT Sports in the UK. I have Sky Q with both packages and I watch TNT Sports UHD on my bedroom TV using it's own Discovery+ App. This is the TV that my Sky Q Mini box is connected to.

Re: UHD for Sky Q (Multiscreen)

Referring to Sky Sports not TNT. It's clear that there are no options for Sky Q customers to watch Sky UHD content outside the main box, that's fine. Just wanted to check if it I had missed the obvious or there was an alternative.

Yup, a little annoying but I set recording for both UHD and HD so if I'm banished from the main TV I can still watch on a mini...

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

The alternative is to get a Sky Sports subscription via the NOW TV app. If you add the Ultra Boost option you can stream in UHD/HDR on 3 devices simultaneously.
The NOW app is available on many smart TVs and on all FireTV, AndroidTV, GoogleTV, Apple tvOS, and Roku streaming devices.

Same here. In short, there is no option for Sky Q customers. Obviously you're not going to take out another service like Now TV whilst you're still in contract, just for the convenience of having that specific capability.

Sky Q is a legacy product in the CC world. I don't see any indication that they're going to update the Q line whilst pushing streaming / broadband based TV provisions to the forefront or offer 4k stream access to existing Q customers with the equivalent addons of Now TV.

Only the main Q box can output UHD: that's a fundamental hardware limitation of the chipsets used in manufacturing.  There's absolutely no chance of new models of either main or Mini boxes being produced given satellite television broadcasting to the UK is likely to end before the turn of the decade (and it's not a Comcast platform anyway)

Sky Go is now equally antique and a legacy of pre-Comcast Sky: interestingly the NowTV app is much more recent architecture since it transitioned to the Comcast global platform this year.

Q can definitely operate online-only though: that's what the current boxes in Italy and Austria do.  Moving to Glass & Stream is a commercial rather than a technical decision, and almost certainly one influenced by corporate politics too: I'd imagine Sky Go will be replaced by a re-skinned Xfinity app once Q finally disappears.

Interesting. Does the online version effectively work in the same manner as the current apps available through Sky Q to receive content and presumably also in UHD?

@Rookie3

All the EPG channels are delivered online: there's no need for a dish (although Italian broadcasting regulation requires the presence of a DTTV tuner). I've no idea if any of the channels are in native UHD though.

There was going to be a similar version of Q in the UK, but this got overtaken by the 2018 bidding war and eventual Comcast takeover.
