UHD flickering when watching apps on sky Q

I've been experiencing a flickering issue when using apps on my Sky Q box when the sky Q resolution is set to UHD. The flickering occurs across all apps, but when I switch the resolution to HD, everything works fine. This issue has only started  recently, as UHD playback used to work without problems. And it should work when set to UHD problem is only with the apps  on sky Q iv tried rebooting the sky box and updating and app refresh but not worked any one know how to fix it what else I could try thank you

What HDMI lead are you using?

The bandwidth required for UHD is significantly higher than HD so any cable issues would show up...

If you've eliminated the Q box and cable then it suggests the TV...

Tried a different HDMI input?

One other thing you could try is turning juddering settings option to on/off on your Sky Q box.

  1. Press Home on your Sky remote and select Settings, followed by Setup and then Audio visual.
  2. Change Judder Reduction to On.

Would suggest after making that settings change, repowering your TV and Sky Q box.

Worth trying - the native refresh rate is 50Hz.  Turning on judder reduction sets it to 60Hz.

But also bear in mind the TV may be performing post-processing.  Worth trying to turn this all off, such as frame interpolation etc.  Some TV's make a dogs dinner of post processing if the Q has 'forced' the refresh against the native rate.  This might be the 'flickering' effect you are seeing.

I run my TV in film maker mode which disables the majority of such processing.

As ever, always use the TV native app if you can as this will almost always be better.

Re: UHD flickering when watching apps on sky Q

I had exactly the same problem and have been putting up with for quite a while but before contacting sky, because they would just say have tried a different hdmi cable I thought let's give it a go , with a long background in electronics and computers I was very sceptical about doing this but ordered an 8K UHD cable from eBay  £8.40. No need to go silly and let's just say I am glad I didn't promise to eat my hat, if it didn't work but since the change I have had no problems.
