Which size s90d do you have as I've used standard mode with both my q90r and my s95d that resolves the issue. Is the tv setup for hdr correctly and the the skyq box connected directly to one of the tv's hdmi ports?
Also, can you please put your reply directly to me so that I get a notification otherwise I can miss your reply.
ABL should only kick in if there is a static picture on screen for a length of time, however the logo dimming has been known to be confused by bright dog's on the screen as well, this can be turned off in the tv's settings.

The ABL is a right pain! I'd rather my Sony A80J had the option of turning it off and accepting that I'll need a new TV sooner!
I don't get why it doesn't affect F1, can ruin a football game, although I've noticed it occuring less often of late.

Re: UHD HLG HDR Picture is So Poor
I watched the F1 today using UHD 8 bit and the picture quality was fine.
Last night the brightness dimmed slightly after a few minutes when I watched the football.

You could try and turning off logo dimming, if you haven't already, there is also a system menu hack you can do to nullify the more aggressive dimming as well. Some useful forum threads below:
