An engineer is coming on Wednesday to fix the dish.
We cannot get anything on the TV even On Demand, recordings or apps. Everything says, "To use this service, you need a satellite signal. "

hi @Piffer
SKY Q boxes require a periodic 'Keep alive' signal that is delivered via Satellite
If this is not received then the box effectively shuts down and gives the message you are getting
Unfortunately it means you cannot use it for recordings or apps etc until the Satellite signal is restored

The Sky Q box will stop working as you have described, as it cannot anymore register/activate your Sky account/card information. It does this check every so often and is done over a satellite connection.
You can always use Sky Go on your phone/tablet/PC until the engineer arrives.
