Switching to HD+ box temporailiy once SKY Q installed?
Getting our new Sky Q box this coming week. One question: Following installation i will still have my old SKY HD+ box with a number of recordings on it. I'm aware that I cannot transfer these and that I 'could' copy them to DVD, but I'd like to know if it were possible to simply change the cable from the Q box to my old machine for a couple of weekends in order to watch these recordings. I suspect that the replacement card prevents this but is that so?

You won't be able to watch your recordings remaining on your Sky+ box I'm afraid.

Thanks. I suspected as much - SKY are not exactly customer focused are they!

@pra29 I'm not defending Sky but there are technical reasons for this as well namely if your HD box hasn't had a satellite signal for a number of days it won't work until it recognises a satellite signal. As the LNB has been changed then even if you attache the satellite cable it will still not receive a signal
