Super hot Sky Q Mini box

Hello. One of my Sky Q mini boxes has been losing connection with the main Sky Q and getting super hot, almost too hot to keep my hand on it. Unplugging for some moments then plugging back in has helped the connection, but it remains hot.

Could someone please assist.

Thank you

Re: Super hot Sky Q Mini box

Hi @HZLondon

I would recommend giving Sky a call to arrange a replacement just explain that it keeps loosing connection to the Main Q box but mainly it's getting to hot to touch as if it's getting too hot to touch it could potentially be a fire risk.

@HZLondon

No need to call. I’ve escalated your post to Sky and the Messaging Team should contact you later. In the meantime disconnect the mini box.

You need to watch out for a post from one of the team inviting you to a private chat and then you should see a blue/red speech bubble at the bottom of your forum page. You’ll have 48 hours to click on it and start the private chat or it will close automatically. If you fail to respond to a chat reply within 48 hours the chat will again close down automatically even if your issue hasn’t been resolved. Replies from Sky aren’t instant so you’ll need to check the chat thread fairly regularly.

@gjowen99

Is it too hot to rest the palm of your hand on the top? Is it in a well ventilated place?

@Walkdel

I would suggest unplugging it.

We have to allow at least 10 minutes before we can escalate your post to Sky so I’ll escalate it at that point and their Messaging Team should contact you later.

Look out for a post on this thread from one of the team inviting you to a private chat and then you should see a blue/red speech bubble at the bottom of your forum page. Replies from Sky aren’t instant so you’ll need to check the chat thread periodically.

I have the same with one of mine too, I noticed today that the heat can be felt through the top of the unit where it sits. Could I be contacted too please.

Re: Super hot Sky Q Mini box

It's normal for the mini boxes to feel warm on top but if it's too hot to touch that's a problem and it needs replacing.
