Streaming Fallback
Without any sarcastic comments can someone exp;ain why the Q boxes have never had an update so they fall back to a streaming service if for whatever reason satalite signal is lost.
The boxes are capable of streaming (netflix, itvx, appleTV, Amazon Prime etc) and Sky know what subsriptions people have.
We had a huge storm sunday just as the F1 started and lost sinal and as we are reminded time and time again "Its only live once". Yes i know Sky Go is an option but huge difference watching on an iPad than a decent TV.

Re: Streaming Fallback
If you lose Satellite then simply select whatever streaming service to have/like. Sky making that decision for you would likely cause outrage...

Re: Streaming Fallback
@Mr+Ramsden The boxes weren't designed to fail over to a streaming app, which app would it fail over to as there are a number of apps on Sky Q.

Please note I only provide help on the main forums and not via PM, PM's are switched off.
Samsung 75" 4K TV, Sky Glass Gen 2 55", Sky Stream, EE FTTC Broadband, Three 5G Broadband (Backup), Sony 7.1 AV Receiver, Technisat MultiSat receiver.

Initially it just wasn't designed like that.
TBH the number of times this fall back is required is very low & I doubt if SKY would deem the development worthwhile altthough who knows maybe as SKY Go has developed maybe it could be added to to SKY Q boxes with minimal effort
I appreciate it is very frustrating for those odd times that the weather does interfere

Re: Streaming Fallback
Probably because when Q was designed (c2013-15) Sky was still very much the satellite television company, and had an inherited and deeply-entrenched 'satellite-first' mentality despite Q being a hybrid broadcast/online device.
As we've seen, after the Comcast acquisition it's debatable whether satellite reception will even remain a thing past the end of the decade.

Re: Streaming Fallback
You could use Sky Go on a laptop and connect to a tv through HDMI.
Sky Q 2TB (V3). 2 x Mini. LG G3 65inch. LG S95 QR 9.1.5 Soundbar. Sky Full Fibre Gigafast Broadband.

A native version of SkyGo on the box is a great idea - doubt it will be implemented though. (Such development is unlikely now Stream is out)

You can buy USB -C to HDMI adapters relatively cheap.

Acquire a small stool and locate it conveniently close for those stormy days.
