We were watching 4hrs of BBC1 last night, (therefore not changing channels or using another app) and got a message to say it would be going into standby mode. In the past if this happened we just had to press a button on our tv remote and that would be sufficient. Here, nothing we did worked and the tv turned off (just as Thomas Cromwell was facing the axeman). I eventually turned the whole thing off and back on, but I'd like to know what to do the next time that happens.
I'm not sure if it was the tv going into standby or SkyQ - if it's SkyQ I understand I can change the settings, but if it's the tv, I need the tv remote to be responsive, which it wasn't.

hi @phobe
It is more likely to be the TV. my TV has a much shorter interaction shutdown down time than SKY Q and of course you are far likely to not be interacting with the TV as you change channel etc via SKY
In this case only the 'TV' buttons (i.e. Volume / Source buttons) on the SKY remote will stop the TV going to standby
Does your remote still work OK to change volume ?

Yes, just checked.

If the TV turned off it will have been a message from the TV rather than the Sky box. Many TVs now have automatic 4 hour off timers by default. You would need to use the TV remote to prevent it going into standby.

Yes, that's what I thought, Xenon. Previously I would press the central navigation button on the tv remote and all would be ok, but this didn't work yesterday. From what Nigea99 says, perhaps I should try pressing one of the volume buttons on the tv remote.
We've only had the SkyQ setup since Thursday, so I'm busy doing everything wrong at the moment!
