As I have said you were mis-informed.

SKY do allow it - but there are hardware limitations on SKY Q due to it's age - SKY Q does not support Dolby Vision but does support UHD inc HDR10 HDR (except V1 boxes)

As I also mentioned Disney+, Amazon Prime & Paramount + apps on SKY Q all have Atmos - although for some reason Netflix doesn't - all of these apps have HDR10 HDR

Wow you work for sky as seems your defending them to the hilt lol. Just a small notice so customers like me who suffered a brain injury threw a motorcycle accident spent weeks trying to work this out including contacting sky for them to be none the wiser. It was only when I contacted HBO I was given this information.

I do not work for SKY & I am just another customer & I am just giving you the facts as I know them.

I checked all the apps I mentioned with suitable content (Mandalorian on Disney+, Rings of Power on Prime, The Madison for Atmos & Star Trek Discovery for HDR on Paramount+  & Bridgerton on Netflix)

if you check my earlier posts,  I have echoed @Angel_Aka  recommendations that we  suggest  customers do use the apps on other hardware as  TVs, Firesticks, Apple TV boxes all have newer tech (usually including Dolby Vision) and also likely to be faster.  Although I know many customers prefer the convenience of the apps being on SKY Q or do not have access to apps on other devices.

Personally I generally only use the SKY Q apps to check things out - as I have done to confirm the apps I mentioned have HDR and Dollby Atmos or not (I mainly use the apps on Firesticks myself & occasionally my Panasonic TVs) 

Personally, I have always been surprised & disappointed that the Netflix app on SKY Q does not have Atmos - which is a specific reason I recommend using other devices

Like you & other customers I am disappointed that the HBO Max app still does not support 5.1. After reporting this to SKY, they have confirmed that together with HBO they are working on providing 5.1 & Atmos sound & I have no reason to doubt this.

I genuinely believe it will get sorted but  I think the SKY Q platform, being proprietary, can pose  challenges to 3rd party app development teams

I am pleased to report that having checked the latest update to the HBO Max app on SKY Q, that it now does support 5.1 sound  &  (for those with Premium sub) Dolby Atmos  

BTW it now shows as  version 7..5.0 Build 116 for me.

I admit it definitely took longer than I expected but at least now it does

Yes you are correct I noticed the other day that my Dolby Atmos was working just as u started watching white lotus, so happy days makes the £15 a moth for it a bit more reasonable.

The Netflix app works differently to the other apps and first checks the devices audio profile. As Q's profile is essentially a 5.1 output device, the app will only pull in the 5.1 audio track. The Disney+, Paramount+ and Prime apps just send the entire audio stream to the HDMI port regardless.
