I changed my broadband provider from Sky to vodafone as my wifi connection kept dropping out. Now i find that my Sky Q box constantly drops connection to wifi. I have to reconnect every time I want to watch tv and can also disconnect whilst watching tv. This is very frustrating is there anything i can do please?

Is that Vodafone as a terrestrial ISP or using cellular data?

Assume you don't have the possibility to connect your Q box by Ethernet to your router.
If not try a full reset of the connection.
First reset your broadband router.
If on Sky broadband hold the Reset on the back of the router until the power light flashes green (about 10 seconds). Don't unplug or switch off your router while it resets. The power light will go green when it's done.
If on 3rd party broadband and your router does not have a reset button, reboot it by disconnecting the power lead for 30 secs and then reconnecting.
Wait until the router is completely back and running and then try a Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to connect by WiFi to your router. Even if reset is not listed there is still an option to connect by WiFi to Sky or 3rd party router
If you are on Sky Broadband you will be asked to press the WPS button on the Sky router. (Not on the Q box as the Network reset will start the main Q box WPS automatically). Make sure you press the WPS button on the Sky router and not the reset button.
if you are on 3rd party (non Sky ) broadband then you need to enter the SSID and password for the router 2.4 Ghz WiFi band.

Hi thanks for your reply. I've tried this numerous times and it still randomly drops off. I've been through it for hours on the phone with Vodafone still no fix.
I have to reconnect my Sky Q box to the internet every time I want to watch it. I can't use an Ethernet connection.
Any further ideas...maybe Sky don't want me to use an alternative broadband provider?

We have exactly the same problem. We have ip yonight after trying various combinations if resets. Nonother device in the house has this issue. My ISP Vodafone advise that Sky is well known for this issue across all ISPs and its Sky's software! When will a patch be issued?

Exactly the same issue for me, seems to have started in the last week. Been going mad! Reset everything and the sky q network connection just keeps dropping and then reconnecting for a few seconds.
To test I've just connected my main Sky Q to my iPhone using a teather and now have a stable connection to the internet for Sky Q. Seems like the VF BB router is the issue, I'll ring them tomorrow, which I'm sure will be a deep source of joy.
Watching this thread in case someone comes up with something smart!

Update, i just managed to connect my main Q box to the route via Ethernet and things are back in life. Not sure what in the last few days has made it not work via WiFi....

Thanks gor your post. I can't hard wire my Sky Q box as it's in a different room. Wifi throughout the downstairs of my house is bad. Has anyone used a mesh system to help with wifi signal? I already have a booster from Vodafone but makes no difference with the Sky Q box connection. It's still constantly dropping.

Hi everyone, had a Sky engineer come out after a software update failed to fix the issue and he was excellent. Changed some IP config (bottom line, didn't see what) to 8.8.8.8 to bypass a firewall on the Vodafone router and force a connection to Google. Connection has been rock solid since 👍🏻

Oh and he changed to channel from 2.4 to 5.0hz

Oh wow that's great. It would be good if Sky could post the full fix..it doesn't sound that difficult to do once you know how.
I wonder if they can talk me through it over the phone?
thanks for posting

I recently had an upgrade to a white router (at Skys insistence when I renewed my contract) and since then Sky Q keeps dropping out. It is a real pain to have to keep reconnecting. Surely something permanent can be done to stop this irritating problem. Any ideas anyone?

Changing the dns in network settings on your sky q boxes to 8.8.8.8 (google) or 1.1.1.1 (cloudflare) has been a savior for me in the past simple to do and significantly improves stability.
my current issue seems to have been something new introduced in the last week or so, possibly a Vodafone firmware upgrade.

On this point, I had some Deco P9's and I could never get sky to work with them! I thought WiFi coverage was my issue when I moved house a few years back, but it was the dns update that helped me.
