Re: Sky movies is pixelating all other channels work ok.
Mike, did swapping around the coax's work for you?
Im still having issues - just dont see why swapping around the cables should make a difference but if it worked for them maybe worth a go. Ive just resigned myself to downloading the movies first.
I did have one thought, this only seemed to occur (i think) after i changed my TV to a 4k tv, as my old one which was 1080p. Feels to me likt the box cant pump enough into the new tv/screen.

I have exactly the same problem and like @Adamb wondered if its anything to do with the new 4k tv? I even bought new hdmi cables just in case they werent carrying the data to the tv but no difference. I also feel like the box isnt pumping enough data to the tv but really dont know?

Re: Sky movies is pixelating all other channels work ok.
It does feel like that its the box not pumping enough. If the TV is a fairly decent spec with 4k and VRR and HDMI2 etc, i wonder if it theres a conflict somewhere between the TV and the sky box - in fact i may try adding the sky box to the only standard HDMI port i have rather than the hdmi2+ ones - i get no issues with PS5 on the other high speed HDMI2+ but then the ps5 is built for this - the Q box is possibly older tech.
Only reason this has just come to me is becuase i spent all weekend building a retroarch PC and the games wouldnt play - i stuck it in the port with standard hdmi and then made a few tweaks to retroarch and it was perfect so now im thinking its between the two devices. Anyway, i let you know what happens.

Re: Sky movies is pixelating all other channels work ok.
Thank you! I have 2 tv s this is affecting and both newish as had to replace one this year. I was thinking of plugging an old non 4k tv instead and see if this still happens but tbh it'll be a pain to swap them around and I'm not sure what that would achieve. I will be interested to see how you get on.

Re: Sky movies is pixelating all other channels work ok.
All Sky Cinema channels are now broadcast on the same frequency (except Premiere+1). If you're getting break up etc it's likely that the dish is slightly out of alignment, even if swapping the inputs helps, as it's possible for one input to be more severely affected. Best thing to do is arrange an engineer visit to check the dish, especially if Premiere+1 (channel 312) isn't affected.

Re: Sky movies is pixelating all other channels work ok.
Just realised it doesent do it on Sky Showcase HD.
Have had the dish checked by a sky engineer (not via sky).
Am still going to check the HDMI and change around the inputs as advised (i may even make the ends off again)

Re: Sky movies is pixelating all other channels work ok.
So....This is still happening.
Just to add, without hijacking the threads main content, the Paramount app, and the Amazon app constanly buffer for some reason, even after a reset of the box, and a refresh of the apps in the installer menu.
To be clear - the sky box is hardwired via cat6 patch cable to the router 1m away.
The internet line is 1000MB business and this happens in the daytime when im the only person here.
When i play the apps through the TV on their native hub (LG) they play perfectly without buffering, and the TV is on WiFi (as i didnt thik i need to run apps through it) and the nearest wifi dish is upstairs on the landing.
The HDMI lead from the sky q box to the TV has been changed out to check this isnt faulty.
I would say this points towards the sy Q box not being able to handle the throughput, or provide suitable bandwidth to the TV running 4k HDR VRR etc.
Im trying to be good and not pester sky support over the phone and post on here, but no one from sky seems to be pickign this up, and i dont think im the only person running these issues....

Sky Q boxes are really quite ancient in technology terms - they were designed primarily as a satellite PVR, not a streaming device, so the addition of streaming apps was seen as a bonus, not a priority.
When I had Q I always found the apps to be slow and really not worth using so I never bothered with them. For starters they will not frame rate match the content, and they will only output HDR10 at best (no Dolby Vision or HDR10+). If your LG is a relatively modern model then the on board apps will likely be much better, both in terms of quality and reliability.
Sky Q is great at recording and downloading content, but as a streaming device it's very out-dated and distinctly mediocre.

Re: Sky movies is pixelating all other channels work ok.
Thanks for your reply.
i dont think they are that ancient if im honest, we arnt talking commodore 64 tech, and the main point is that it doesent happen often when streaming - im watching sky cinema which pumped down the dish and thats what the main issue was.
it seems to have got better on its own accord, and when i stream now i use native apps from the LG tv for amazon. Disney and netflix are fine on the sky box.
i suppose its one of those things that either gets a silent update or just fixes itself. I would never go down the puck route ever, every person inknow that has a puck system has issues as it reies on your home network too much (whereas mine is gogabit wired everywhere) i still wouldnt use it. I love skyQ.
Apprciate all input though for others that have the same issue.

Re: Sky movies is pixelating all other channels work ok.
As all the other threads I have the same issue - Booked an engineer with about 3 weeks notice about a week before he was due to come it cleared itself .. Problem now returned don't watch many movies on the channels but do download fine so not booked an engineer again.
irritating issue but can't be **bleep** hanging about for a Sky engineer .,
if anyone finds a fix please advise

Re: Sky movies is pixelating all other channels work ok.
Since my previous post re the pixellating problem my sky box started playing up big time with only one channel loading, black screen, not able to record and unable to play recorded programmes, etc. The box self diagnosed as hard disk error and the sky work arounds were unable to fix it. Fortunately it ended with sky replacing the box and no problems and now very happy. Can't say whether any of the above is linked to the pixelating issue but the replacement box works great with no further issues.

Re: Sky movies is pixelating all other channels work ok.
We were suffering this issue on our SkyQ box for some time and even before upgrading to full fibre broadband. However, after the upgrade, the problem got worse.
I did the power off, power lead out, HDMI out at both ends, then reconnect and reboot and the good news is that it instantly worked.
I can only assume that the process 'frees up' some operating memory in the SkyQ box? Hopefully, this will work for some considerable time, as I don't want to have to carry this out every week?

Re: Sky movies is pixelating all other channels work ok.
Before you do that!
Mine is sorted 100%.
I got a sky engineer out, he was awesome. Changed the LNB, and made off the ends into the sky box and it's perfect. Don't waste your time with virgin and their rubbish tv, stick with you know!

He came within two days, problem solved.

Re: Sky movies is pixelating all other channels work ok.
We've has the movie channels pixelating for around 3wks due to work im away and the wife isn't tech savvy.
Anyways I got hold af Sky technical this weekend and after doing 2 system updates and myself doing multiple unplugging and resets the tech guy said they're was a fault with the Q box and he would dispatch one OH!!! you have Sky cover il pass you over!
Sky cover arranged an engineer for yesterday yes Sunday!! The guy turned up at the appointed time asked about the issue says it unlikely to be the box did some quick tests turns out it's the LNB!!!
Changes that all good and works as it should os well done Aiden saved us losing loads of recordings and series links etc etc etc.
So just goes to show drop on with a good engineer and your sorted 👍👍
