My house has many flint (wifi-opaque) internal walls, so my kitchen has a completely different internet feed with its own wireless network. (from a 4G router where the rest of the house is fed from a 150Mb EE fibre router). The two networks have different IP ranges (192.168.8.* vs 192.168.10.*) to avoid routing conflicts.
I've just been persuaded to transition to SkyQ. I want the main box to feed the sitting romm TV, with a minibox feeding the kitchen TV. My intention is to connect both boxes with ethernet cables (my general policy is to use cables for anything that has a fixed location to keep the wifi traffic to a minimum). Both boxes will be able to access the internet, but will not be able to access eachother over wifi or within the LAN so if there's a wifi back-channel between them it probably won't work.
What problems will this cause me? Would these problems be solved if I ran an ethernet cable from trhe main network to the kitchen minibox (so both are in the same IP range)?
Any thoughts much appreciated...

hi @rieden
Unfortunately the SKY Q boxes must be on the same network.
Wifi wise as your network is not SKY the mini would use a wifi generated by the Main box and not your home wifi
Is there any chance of connecting the mini directly to the main box via ethernet (possibly using Pwoerline adapters) ?

Hi @rieden
When all boxes are connected by Ethernet you can then switch off all Q box WiFi. This needs to be to the same network either directly or through simple unmanaged Ethernet switches.
Start with main Q box and first carry out a Network reset with the Ethernet connected.
Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Select connect wired to non Sky Router (or Sky router if on Sky Broadband). Do not carry out any WPS and just wait for the box to connect. It may take a couple of minutes. If it does not connect there is an issue with the Ethernet connection.
As soon as it connects go immediately into the Q box hidden menu and turn off WiFi.
To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Go to Network to turn off both bands of WiFi. Confirm before exit.
Repeat the network reset on any minis in the Mini Home menu with the Ethernet connected. Again do not do any WPS and just wait for it to connect.
Once it is connected go immediately into the mini hidden menu (same procedure as above) and turn off both bands of WiFi. Confirm before exit.
