Sky broadband doesn’t work if TV is unplugged from the Sky Q box

We want to have sky broadband in a room from a Sky Q box under our multi room agreement but it won't work unless a TV is connected via the HDMI port. Why can't we get it to work without the TV connected

It sounds like what you actually need is a booster. 

The mini boxes are not set up to work solely as booster boxes, you need to have them set up correctly for the connection to remain, otherwise you won't see the error message saying it's dropped connection.
