How can I get terrestrial tv channels in whilst I wait? Do I just unplug box?

Plug the cable from your TV aerial into the socket at the back of your TV.

As @Mark39 indicates, Digital Terrestrial Television (DTTV) reception requires an aerial. In a strong signal area (relatively close to a transmitter mast) an indoor antenna might be viable, otherwise a rooftop unit is necessary. Typically once this is connected you'd need to use the television remote control to select DTTV as an input rather than the HDMI port of the Q box, and then tell the set to scan for channels: what you'll actually receive depends on the mast location and the channels it carries, because some repeaters only have PSB service.
Note that although your television set may have a digital satellite television tuner in addition to a DTTV tuner, this usually won't work with a Sky satellite dish that has a standard Q LNB on it.
On a smart television set there are probably apps for one or more of the PSB services which allow live viewing online: if there's the Freeview Play app then many channels should be available that way.
