The setup includes a Sony Bravia TV, a Sony sound bar and Sky Q box. The issue is sky only plays audio from the right speaker regardless of sound bar. I know because of the below testing I've done:
-Played YouTube via sky box, headphone test video. (Fail)
-Same but with sound bar off. (Still fail, so not caused by sound bar)
-Played YouTube via TV app, headphone test video. (Works, not caused by TV)
-Same but with sound bar off. (Still works)
-Back to sky box test, new HDMI cable. (Fails, not caused by HDMI cable)
-Same but in a different HDMI port. (Still fails, not caused by HDMI port)
-Have a brand new Sky Q box and HDMI today. (Still fails, not caused by Sky box)
I don't know what is causing this but it's doing my head in! Send help.

I have returned having solved the issue.
I was able to further define the issue in that on the Sony Bravia TV there is an Arc hdmi (3) next to 2, then 1&4 in the back.
I found 1&4 wouldn't play right, but 2 would. After trying all sorts I eventually factory reset the TV and now all hdmi ports are outputting both right and left.
For those searching; root cause was something to do with the Sony Bravia TV.
The solution was to factory reset the TV.
Thanks for helping me. It was appreciated.

Have you got another Device with HDMI that you can try with your TV?
Or another TV to try with the Q box.
Also have you rebooted the Sony Bravia TV? Some Sony models will reboot if you press and hold the power off standby button for 4 or more seconds or more. Otherwise disconnect the TV power lead for 30 sec and reconnect.

Hi Oldfella!
"Have you got another Device with HDMI that you can try with your TV?"
Yes have done, if you look at the testing I've completed so far.
"Or another TV to try with the Q box."
Can't do that, it has the sky cables coming into the back of the box from the wall so the Q box can't be moved. That being said, you'll see in my testing I've got a brand new sky box and the issue persists.
"Also have you rebooted the Sony Bravia TV? Some Sony models will reboot if you press and hold the power off standby button for 4 or more seconds or more. Otherwise disconnect the TV power lead for 30 sec and reconnect."
Everything has been turned fully off; again I don't think it's the TV that's the issue however, because in my testing you'll see I can get the Youtube App on the TV to play right and left sound.
Any other ideas? Does anyone know anything about the cables that come from the wall to the box, can they be replaced?
Kind regards.

Hi @NBolton
In the Testing that you have completed so far you mention that you have tried a new HDMI cable and different inputs however you have not said that you have tried another device with HDMI.
This would be something like a DVD player or similar.
Testing with TV Apps and YouTube is not the same as another device.
There could be an issue with your TV in that the Audio signal (from all HDMI inputs) is somehow corrupted.
This would mean that the problem only exists with devices connected to your TV by HDMI.
When I suggested trying with another TV the option if you have have another is to temporarily move the other TV to the Q box (not move the Qbox)
Your issue is not going to be anything to do with the two cables from the dish into the back of your Q box.

Valid points @oldfella
I've just gone to test with a PS4 and both speakers are working there. So yeah, still the same situation.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreWhat audio setting have you got the Q set to for HDMI output?
and is this all content or just the youtube app?
02 Oct 2023 01:58 PM
This is all sound that comes from the Q box, using youtube app just makes life easier to fully hear no right audio. But yeah songs/into tracks to shows also makes it very glaring.
Settings are all currently set to 'normal'

Same thing, still no right Audio. Overall the sound is quieter too but I don't think that means much in the way of fixing right audio.

Just checking something. Your opening post says no right audio then only right audio. It's definitely no right audio is it? So with DD switched on, you get centre, left, sub, but no right?
02 Oct 2023 02:33 PM
Sorry for that, for full definition - ONLY left, NO right.
It really is bizzare, uneccessarily so it's killing me! 😂
I can't speak for centre, left, sub, right. I cant hear the sub going, I can hear left, I can't hear right. I'm using the below video for the quick test but as I say, you can tell on music.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYou have any way of connecting the Q to the soundbar direct? Like optical?

Although I do (I'll have to go in the loft later to grab it) if that were to work, would only be a work around right? But hey I'll test it and come back.
