Sky TV multiswitch “unearthed”

IMG_9768.jpeg

Engineer has come now for a second visit where he couldn't find the multi switch. He's now found it although he said he can't carry out the work as it is unearthed?

hi @br6

Unfortunately that is the case - the engineers  are not allowed to connect to unearthed equipment

It looks like the the bolt on the bottom right is where an earth cable should be connected

Edit:  at closer look I am not too sure where it should be earthed - although my previous statement could be correct

Re: Sky TV multiswitch “unearthed”

Thanks a lot, frustrating as it's now going to be about 3 months since I first ordered.

I will tag our knd expert @Godfrey  to see if he can offer any advice.

(Edit : especially as I am not sure whether the connection at 1 is set to be the ground  - I can't quite make out the manual image I have found)

This is where the earthing post is situated on a Triax T5 T512 multiswitch, I also suggest the use of earthing bars on all the input and output coaxial cables.

Many thanks @Godfrey  your image  does make it clearer than the one I found 🙂

Edit :  BTW it seems strange that there is such an earthing bar showing (which is where  I first  suspected was a suitable point) without being connected to any earth cable

@br6  Hopefully your buidling management will get their contractors to rectify this so that you can proceed in future

Re: Sky TV multiswitch “unearthed”

Thanks guys. Strange that it wasn't done. It's about 7 years since they were developed, but hopefully management should still sort this. The only issue is that the mains enters in a separate building, so will need to be ran through a duct somehow to access that multiswitch. Headache.
