Alibi playing Father Brown in DD 5.1, no problem.
So the issue is just the F1 channels then. I wouldn't worry about it for now. Wait until the next live broadcast and see if it's fixed. Lots of other people will complain if it's still 2.0.
The amount I pay, I'm not that happy just living with it. It looks like people have had issues since Sept last year or earlier.
The live shows should be in 5.1 & on the odd occasion they have slipped to 2.0 I think they have usually rectified it after getting feedback.
If you find the lack of 5.1 an issue on replays etc then best to email Viewer Relations : viewerR@Sky.uk
Ah brilliant! I will do thank you. My only option seemed to be to sit in a queue on the phone and speak to someone who will ultimately not be able to help me or blame my setup, etc. etc. Like many companies these days, Sky seem to sit behind an imoveable, unhelpful call centre now. To have an email address where I may actually get a response would be great.

I see that qualifying and the race are also being broadcast on Main Event. If the issue still persists on the F1 channel by then, you could try watching on SSME and see if the sound is different.
There was a similar issue back in March.

Only the UHD channels do atmos. So Alibi will go 5.1 maximum. You could try going into sky q audio settings and disabling Atmos. Perhaps then it may force 5.1 on f1 uhd. Worth a shot

Atmos is not an option as such - just Dolby Digital plus which is needed for Atmos.
DD+ may also be 5.1 or even 2.0
I think the OP did try changing to just DD and the optical cable has a max of 5.1
@millldew123 did you get P1 & F2 in 5.1. ? - on my UHD recordings I got 5.1 in DD+ as expected
(Just in case of any doubt F1 does not broadcast with Atmos sound just 5.1)

Okay, so the recordings of live P1 and P2 are indeed in 5.1!
I wasn't in to watch live but I guess that is the case, that only live shows get 5.1. I will see what happens with P3, but it is looking like it will be 5.1 hopefully.
I'm a bit amazed they limit replays and other material to 2.0, but then I'm amazed they still waste bandwidth on standard definition channels.
Thanks to everyone for all the comments and help.

Live and recorded both playing in 5.1. I also managed to sort ARC and use HDMI return to pass sound to the amp, so have been able to do away with the ancient technology that is optical cables.
Enjoying the best possible picture and sound now.
