Sky Q vs Sky Stream
Hello,
Really hoping that someone can help me as I want to scream after trying to get some answers from Sky.
I am out of contract with Sky Q, I asked for my renewal price and also asked about the new addons like HBO. They then tried to re-sell me sky broadband, skirted the quesitons I had. It was like pulling teeth with a tea spoon!!! (really annoyed).
So wondering if someone here can help with the following:
- If I am sky q and move to sky stream can I still access everything. Is there anything on Sky Q that is not on Sky Stream
- They tell me that on Sky q, I will not be able to get the new access to HBO etc etc is this correct.
- Is there anyway I can actually see what each type of Sky offer, when I ask this they just tell me what they want me to hear and not actually what I want - its not transparent
- Is the experience of telephoning them any better than trying to chat with them or is it just the same?
Thanks and sorry if I sound ranty
Abi

Re: Sky Q vs Sky Stream
First of all you need to check the channel listings - there are many channels which are available on Sky Q's Signature package which are not available on Sky Stream. You can see the full listings here:
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/tv-channel-list-sky-glass
HBO Max will be available to Sky Q customers as an app, just like Netflix, as will Disney+. You will need the Ultimate TV add-on to your Signature package to get the basic with ads service. If you already have Netflix with Sky then you already have Ultimate TV on Q.
You also need to make sure that you have fast and stable broadband before considering Sky Stream. It relies entirely on you providing and maintaining a solid broadband network to each Stream puck you wish to have in your home. It's not like Sky Q where an engineer installs everything - you're sent the puck(s) and it's up to you to connect them and set them up. It's pretty straightforward but if anything goes wrong you have to troubleshoot yourself, with help from Sky or customers on this forum.
Also make sure that you are happy to lose the ability to record. Sky Stream does not record in the same sense as Q. You tag programmes in a playlist and many will play back via an app. Some stuff will record 'in the cloud' but not everything can be recorded.
It can take a bit of getting used to - some people love it, others hate it. It's a bit of a marmite product.

Re: Sky Q vs Sky Stream
Thanks Angel_Aka,
Really appricate your reply.
So I think sky q is the right thing for us, I was thinking about stream because the 2 agents I spoke (via chat) to said that even though I have Ultimate add on today for netflix, it was not the same Ultimate that was going HBO etc and that I won't be able to get these new add ons as I don't have Sky Stream Ultimate.
To be honest they just have no clue what they are talking about and I think they just run from pre-written scripts that they just copy and paste. They also said that Ultimate is not available to sky q customers and was not part of any future package with them on Sky Q.
I might try and see if I ring them I will get someone who actually understand the question.
Thanks
Abs
