Sky Q shuts down rest of the network

Randomly and at awkward times - e.g. when I need to do a work meeting online or the kids want to watch YouTube, my wireless network extension completely refuses to connect my various devices to the internet.  It's connected back to my router via an unmanaged network switch.  I've recently upgraded the whole lot, largely because of perceived reliability problems, which I now suspect were nothing to do with the network itself.

Last night, after much frustration resetting everything, and lots of googling, I spotted a suggestion that Sky Q might be overloading the network... So I took a punt and pulled the plug on the Q box.  Instantly everything else came back online.  With the box plugged back in, everything is fine for now, but I'm worried it'll keep happening.

Wi-Fi on the box is turned off, it's connected by Ethernet, and I don't have any mini boxes or sky routers etc for it to be trying to connect up with.  So there's no mesh or wireless channel settings to conflict.

There are lots of links to discussions on this, mostly referencing STP, and a rumoured firmware fix that may never have happened, but they all lead to missing / deleted content on the Sky discussion forum, so I can't see what to try and fix it.  Any suggestions?

I am extremely annoyed that those old posts about packet flooding have been deleted. They were a useful resource because this has happened to other people recently too. Maybe they are on the wayback machine?

IMHO STP isn't the problem, managed switches which have it closing down the Q's port aren't the problem. The Q spamming the network so badly that the switch thinks there's a redundant loop in the network is the problem. I think a lot of networks can handle the traffic so not everyone notices an issue. And I don't understand why since it's usually people with good kit who have said they have issues.
