Sky Q mini cabled connection not available

I have Sky Q and 2 mini boxes, all are on a cabled LAN, however when I go to connect either mini box to the LAN the connection is not available, it will only connect using the WPS option. I just don't get the option to select LAN like I do on the main box. Am I missing an option somewhere?

I can connect the main Sky Q box using the LAN option, although for some reason it often reverst to wifi, even though I have turned off the wifi in the installers menu.

Re: Sky Q mini cabled connection not available

Update: even the LAN setting on the Sky Q box itself is now re-setting after a few minutes.

Hi @Derek+Lester

When all boxes are connected by Ethernet you can then switch off all Q box WiFi.

Start with main Q box and first carry out a Network reset with the Ethernet connected.
Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Select connect wired to non Sky Router (or Sky router if on Sky Broadband). Do not carry out any WPS and just wait for the box to connect. It may take a couple of minutes. If it does not connect there is an issue with the Ethernet connection.
As soon as it connects go into the Q box hidden menu and turn off WiFi.

To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Go to Network to turn off both bands of WiFi. Confirm before exit.

Repeat the network reset on any minis in the Mini Home menu with the Ethernet connected. Again do not do any WPS and just wait for it to connect.
Once it is connected go into the mini hidden menu (same procedure as above) and turn off both bands of WiFi. Confirm before exit.

Re: Sky Q mini cabled connection not available

Yes, I did set the SKY Q box to Lan and with wifi turned off. Then I go to the first mini box and the only connection option I get is via wps, I never get the option to connect via LAN? It just sits there waiting for a wireless connection.

same with the other mini box.

Hi @Derek+Lester

You say you have set  the  Sky Q box to Lan with the WiFi turned off..

As I put in my post it's important to first carry out the Network reset and then immediately switch the WiFi off once it connects by Ethernet.

Again as per my post with the minis with the minis you carry out the Network reset with the Ethernet connected and if the Ethernet is viable it should connect automatically (do not do do any WPS just wait for it to connect..

Again the WiFi needs to turned off in the minis after the network reset and successfull connection..

If they will not connect by Ethernet there is an issue with your LAN or cables.

To what are you connecting the Ethernet?
