hi @Mr+N+Pocock

SKY Q minis do not store any recordings.

Recordings are only stored on the main box and accessible from either box, irrespective of where they were initiated (except UHD recordings that cannot be played on minis)

Hi @Mr+N+Pocock

You can have up to four minis installed on loan each subject to a one off upfront charge and all under by one single Q monthly Multiscreen subscription
However only two minis can be used simultaneously on all 2 TB boxes and the 1 TB UHD Main boxes to watch Sky Q content.
The original 1 TB non UHD box (32Cxxx) only permits the use of one mini at a time.
If Sky Apps are already being used on some of the minis these will not normally be counted as in Q use and therefore can be used in addition to the above limits.
See the following link for the Versions of main Q box referred to above.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-software-updates.
Subject to the above limits Sky Q minis can be used completely independently of the main Q box and the same or different program or recording can be viewed on each Q box. Even if viewing the same content it is completely independent and can be viewed at the same or different point.
Minis can do all the features same as the main Q box and can set or delete recordings on the main Q box hard drive. There is one single storage area on the main Q box with no profiles and no indication of which Q box has set a recording. (Unlike Sky+HD Multiroom which has independent storage and planners).
It should also be remembered that minis cannot set or view UHD recordings or content.

Re: Sky Q mini box transfer recordings.

It was not explained to me that the mini box is to use with another TV. We only have 1 so the mini is no good to us.

@Mr+N+Pocock

Why did Sky send you a mini box? You must have agreed to it.

What were the circumstances in you getting a Sky Q Mini Box?

Presumably, you've also taken out a Multiscreen Subscription, which is also of no use to you?

Re: Sky Q mini box transfer recordings.

No I wasnt offered multi screen. I had a call which said as I was a longstanding customer I could have a Mini Box free of charge + Paramount Plus and Sky Cinema. I assumed that the Mini Box was a relpacement for my existing box. I wasnt told it was for another TV. Oh well you live and learn. I have asled Sky to arrange collection because I will never use it.

Cheers.

hi @Mr+N+Pocock

They will have added multiscreen to your subscription (needed for a mini box) - unless you need it this you will need to cancel it.

When Multiscreen is cancelled that should trigger the returns process for the mini box

Sending back a mini box without cancelling multiscreen is not part of SKY's processes and likely to cause it to get lost in the system so wait for the returns process to kick in.(when it does make sure you keep the receipt of postiing)

I would definitely double check your future billing as a Sky Q Mini wouldn't work without having a Multiscreen Subscription.

@Mr+N+Pocock

They won't collect it. Sky should send some packaging out with return labels. Keep your proof of posting safe and indefinitely but you can perhaps use Royal Mail’s collect from home service, so keep a record of the tracking number.
