Sky Q mini box connection issues

I have recently purchased a Sky q mini box to go in a summerhouse, I have the main q box connected via WiFi to a BT hub and a Ethernet connection from the hub to the summer house. When the Ethernet is connected to the mini box this drops out the main box from the WiFi, I have turned off the WiFi on the mini box also. Is there any way I can have the main box on WiFi as not possible to connect to the BT hub direct and mini box on Ethernet net?

Hi @DS30

Just be aware that you cannot purchase Q boxes as they are all rented and always owned by Sky.

On 3rd party broadband if you want a mini on Ethernet then it either needs to be connected to the main Q box or all Q boxes must be connected by Ethernet to the router.

Re: Sky Q mini box connection issues

Ok, I do have a BT WiFi disc in the summerhouse but mini box will not connect to this either via WiFi, is there a way of connecting via WiFi through the WiFi disc which is connected directly to the main hub, thanks

Hi @DS30

You could connect the mini by Ethernet to the BT disc but you then would also have to connect the main Q box by Ethernet to a BT disc

Re: Sky Q mini box connection issues

As the position of the main box is difficult to connect via Ethernet to main hub would the connection from main q box to WiFi disc then via main hub on Ethernet to mini box work? Issue I have is the summerhouse is 40+meters from the house so a have a Ethernet from the main hub to it, thanks

Hi @DS30

Afraid on 3rd party broadband you need to connect Ethernet to all boxes by the same method to the same devices.

So that's all connected to router or all connected to discs.
