Sky Q keeps losing wifi

BT Broadband is working well but Sky Q box keeps losing wifi. All other devices work well in same room as Sky Q, so not a broadband issue. Considering leaving Sky but what can be done before I do?

Can you connect via Ethernet?

Bear in mind that a non-Sky ISP will only use 2.4GHz and any steering to 5GHz will disconnect.  I'd recommend disabling any steering on the router - if not, splitting the SSID's into a dedicated 2.4 and 5GHz band.

Thanks. I presume I do that on the admin mode of router ? I'll try that when I get home and see if it works.

Yes - the BT admin page makes that fairly simple to do.  (I used to have a Homehub a while back)

Re: Sky Q keeps losing wifi

I can't connect direct via Ethernet as router and TV are in different rooms. I have connected the Sky Q box to a BT extender via a cable. Does that help?

It will probably need an ethernet connection - the Q is unlikely to connect via WiFi to it.

You can disable WiFi on the Q but entering the engineering settings (Hover on settings, hit 0 0 1 and then select)
