Sky Q in smoke damage
Hi guys, my home has suffered some smoke damage. The cleanup company has said my sky Q box, which works perfectly, is now a fire hazard and shouldn't be used.
what does everyone think?
any experience to offer?

Even though it is woking, there might be an accumulation of smoke particals on key components.
Best to make contact with SKY - I think they will replace it rather risk any chance of faults which could lead to something more dangerous.
I have escalated your post to SKY who, hopefully, will be in touch.
Please see this link re the escalation and what you might see:

If you are using Safari I believe you must make sure that 'Hide IP adress' is not checked in settings to be able to see it - if you have difficulty finding that setting then may be try accessing here with another browser

Re: Sky Q in smoke damage
I've already called the sky team. They said the sky Q box will be fine. I'm not convinced, and I think it should be replaced.
can somebody pass that to them?
not sure how this all works to be honest.

Re: Sky Q in smoke damage
@Smokey74 If you still want Sky's help please engage with them through the escalation process.
This link explains how it works https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Did-you-know/Escalating-a-post-to-a-Sky-expert/ba-p/3711147#M1014
Keep an eye out for an invite or blue chat bubble.
When the blue bubble does appear you have 48 hours to respond or it will be automatically closed.
Be reassured the email & message is from Sky and your details are safe and secure.
If you are using Safari please make sure that Hide IP Address is not checked in order to see the blue bubble. If you are having trouble finding this to check the settings, use another browser such as Firefox, Chrome etc.
I would also recommend that if not already on, that you turn email/private message notifications on to avoid missing any alerts

Re: Sky Q in smoke damage
@Smokey74Remember that unless you have Sky protect it is accidental damage and not covered by Sky so you would have to pay for any replacement. No doubt you could claim this back on your home contents insurance.
