Sky Q continually dropping out from router

Hi.  Just rang call centre to find out why we hadn't recieved a call to explain why the engineer didn't turn up after my wife waited in all day.  Apparently the call centre are unable to raise an engineer as there is a ticket raised on the account saying it needs to be escalated as the issue has been going on for months.  He said his hands are tied as he simply doesn't know who to go to and can not raise another engineer.   We are continually dropping out and sky is almost unwatchable without continually re setting the connection

The primary delivery method is via the dish - for live and recording material.

Or is the issue with downloads/streaming?  Who provides your internet?

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own

Re: Sky Q continually dropping out from router

Any apps we use give us connectivity issues so we are continually dropping out.  So streaming is the issue along with watching recordings.

Re: Sky Q continually dropping out from router

Try going into the advanced network settings and manually setting the DNS servers to 1.1.1.1 - we had dropouts every time we tried to download or stream anything using our ISP's DNS servers, since changing to 1.1.1.1 it has been rock solid.

Re: Sky Q continually dropping out from router

This sounds more like a connectivity problem between the main box and mini, especially as recordings are affected, so changing DNS is unlikely to help.

Doesn't say it's only on a mini?

could be the old "smart wifi" BT router issue. Try disabling that.

or splitting the 2.4GHz and 5GHz wifi networks on the router into separate SSIDs (not as hard as it sounds) as that has helped some BT users.
