Sky Q connectivity following fibre upgrade

Hi,

I've had Sky for a number of years and recently upgraded to the fibre broadband, since then I've been plagued with issues. The most troubling and persistent is either the main box or either of the Mini boxes losing network connection, I am repeatedly resetting the network connection and reconnecting the boxes, I've not had so much as a days service where I have not experienced some disruption or another.

any tips other than the standard hard reset of the boxes, resetting the network connections etc etc?

cheers

Hi @Gk2025

If you have the latest Sky Max router then you need to connect it to to your Q box as if it is a 3rd party router.

This means you need to connect it to your Q box as follows.

First reset your broadband router by holding the Reset on the back of the router until the power light flashes green (about 10 seconds). Don't unplug or switch off your router while it resets. The power light will go green when it's done.
Wait until the router is completely back and running and then try a Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to connect by WiFi to your router. Even if reset is not listed there is still an option to connect by WiFi to Sky or 3rd party router
As the max router is like 3rd party  broadband then you need to enter the SSID and password for the router 2.4 Ghz WiFi band.

Any mini boxes need to be connected to the main Q box by WPS and not to the Max router.

Hi @oldfella appreciate you taking the time to respond.

I used to have the black router and now I've got the white version, is that the one or the cylinder shaped gigafast router that you refer to?

In any event I've followed your advice and followed those steps to connect it up, so will see if that provides any stability.

thanks again for replying
