Sky Q communal dish MDU

Hi.

I moved into multi building MDU with communal dish where Q is evidently already available. On his initial visit however, the engineer could not find the area with the feed for my specific part of the building although did see it for another part of the building . I am trying to coordinate between Sky and building manager - what is that area inside the building called where I believe an adapter can be added to upgrade to Q? Is it a hub? Distribution system? Many thanks

Depending upon the actual number of flats being fed from the communal Integrated Reception System (IRS) installation in your Multiple Development Unit (MDU), it will be using a number of 'Cental Distribution Cabinets' to house the communal multiswitches that will be feeding each individual flat. In larger installations these are usually housed, along with the other technical services, in a central equipment 'riser' cabinet on each floor.

hi @salmonfish73

Although I guess it could be called something different in your building, I think most people would call it the distribution system.

Obviously there are many different set ups - here is a post showing some images of one customer's cupboard which also  shows an adapter after installation:

Re: Sky Q communal dish MDU

By way of update - property management was unable to provide info on and access to the required area. Hence no Sky Q but a disappointing Stream instead. What a mess.
