Sky Q broadband connection

I'm not sure how this is possible, but although my Sky Q box is connected to my router by ethernet cable, the network name is not my Community Fibre, but SKYBEC5B. This means that my Sky mini box won't connect as it's on a different network. However if I set up the Q box via wifi, it keeps dropping out. Can you help?

That is the name of the Q internal wifi network that connects the main and mini boxes together.

Navigate to Settings > Setup > Network on the main box.

Highlight Status and select Reset on the right-hand side.

Choose - Connect wired to non-Sky Router.

I presume that the mini can only connect via wifi?

Edit: reset the mini box connection once the main is (hopefully) reset.

Re: Sky Q broadband connection

Thanks for that, however I have tried resetting everything, but when I go to relink the mini box it won't find the network.

When I reconnect the Q box, there is no option to "connect via ethernet for non-Sky broadband" just connect via ethernet or connect wifi for non-Sky broadband.

The only way I can get both boxes to work is by using wifi, but then this has been dropping out on Sky a lot.

Also, on resetting the mini box and getting the "can't connect to your network" alert, I have tried going the route of " setting up the box for the first time, this only leads to a restart that then gets stuck in standby mode!

Any advice gratefully received,

Hi @Paperboy

The Ethernet connection setting in the main Q box does now only show Connect by Ethernet.   There is now no mention of Sky or Third party router.

Assume when you are trying to connect mini by WiFi your are using WPS with the main Q box and not the router?

Is that a recent change?
