Sky Q box
Our previous tenant had a sky + box and I want to get a sky Q box now as the dish and wiring is there. Can I buy (in Ireland) a sky Q box anymore. I get to the bit where I want to order but then I get "can't process your order right now Call this number".. which no one answers. Just the usual ai **bleep**e voice who then sends you a text which is **bleep**e then wants to charge you per minute to call them.. Still a **bleep** show when it comes to customer service..

Re: Sky Q box
You can't buy a Sky Q box. They are loaned to customers for the duration of your subscription.
The Ireland Customer Service lines are closed at weekends so ring them tomorrow (it's an 0818 number from a non Sky line).
An engineer will need to change the LNB on the dish for Sky Q.

Re: Sky Q box
Cheers. Does the sky q box work the same way essintially as the old sky + box? Record and series link etc. and locally stored recorded programms instead of running around apps?

Re: Sky Q box
Yes.
I will cc in one of the other Superusers who has compiled a very helpful guide for those thinking of transitioning from Plus to Q which may provide some insight into something you hadn't considered...

Re: Sky Q box
Found that discussion thanks. Last question. Essential TV package for €18 is where I was going, but looking at the sky site is seems that Sky Max, Sky Documentaries, Sky Comedy, Sky Nature, Sky History, Sky Sci-Fi HD, alibi, GOLD, Comedy Central, Comedy Central Extra are all missing unless I go for the more expensive Ultimate TV package for €25 per month, yet most discussions here suggest the only difference is the addition of nexflix?

There is a difference between SKY Q & SKY Stream
On SKY Stream Ultimate TV is used for the full entertainment package & includes Netflix
On SKY Q Ultimate TV is just the Netflix add on, with the full entertainment package being called Signature
It is thus important to understand the differences between the platforms
SKY also use similar named but different products for the base product SKY Q Essentials which is just the FTA channels, whereas Essential TV on SKY Stream is the FTA channels plus SKY Atlantic & Netflix

Re: Sky Q box
Nothing seems to ever change with sky. They agreed a deal for €30 euro per moth which was fine for October and November. Then charged an extra 14 per month for sky hd and ultra hd. There does not seem to be any way to get rid of these. Their stupid virtual assistant fizzed out, the whattapp stopped helping because the password and pin which is correct they say isn't what they have on file.. any day I call is there busiest day of the week and I wait for 30 minutes to get cut off. any help please?
