@Nat1222  Sky Q does need an active internet connection.  Sky don't actively supply Sky HD boxes, although these can be obtained from various online stores.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

@Nat1222

Based on personal experience, I'd recommend your parents do NOT switch to Sky Q. It's a very different user interface and many people of the older generation who may not be so tech savvy find it to be extremely unintuitive. It's much more graphic based and less simple to navigate than Sky+HD. If they don't have the internet then the added functionality of apps like Netflix will be useless to them.

My own parents hated it, so were switched back to Sky+ which continues to function perfectly for them.
Speak to Sky and renegotiate their contract. If they won't supply a replacement Sky+HD box then I'd recommend getting one from elsewhere (Amazon or ebay) and swapping it over yourself - it's very easy to do.

@Nat1222  Don't change if it is working to get the advantage of Q you really need an internet connection
You can just continue paying your existing rate or contact Sky to see if they will do a better deal BUT don't fall for you must change to Q you don't have to>

Re: Sky Q box

@fizzdisco @Thank you very much for all the help. I did buy my parents a sky +HD box off Ebay which is a better one then they have so will try and pair their card to that box. I didn't want them paying out to buy the box. When a sky + box is just as good

Sky Q has considerably more facilities than Sky+, including UHD/HDR, multiple simultaneous recordings and on-board apps.  It's more a question of which facilities the subscriber is going to make use of.
