Sky Q box freezes every few seconds now. This has been an ongoing problem and no engineer has fixed

my Q box is an additional one to the main box that my sister in law has. My box is the 3rd one Sky have installed and no engineer has fixed it. It's got much worse 

I would like to explore possibility of having my own main box, hoping that a splitter cable from the dish on our house roof.

You can't have 2 main Q boxes, unlike Sky+HD

 

Chances are it can't get a solid wifi connection to the Q. Nothing to do with the box itself. Try powerline adapters.
