What message are you seeing, you sure it isn't a message from the tv itself and which firmware version is the SkyQ box on?

What message are you seeing and what software version are you on? Q330.000.09.00L is the latest.

If you're just manually checking for updates, a Sky Q box will always appear to find a new update, but it will just download and re-install the current version.

Hi @Royboy200

Bear if mind that when you select Setup (in Setting - System info - Software version) the message received will always be update this box with the latest software even if the box is already on the latest version.
Updating when already on the latest version achieves nothing and the box software is not refreshed.
All Q boxes and minis should be on the same software version.

It did, but you didn't notice (which is how it's supposed to be ; )

@Royboy200

My Sky Q box has updated 4 times in 2025 alone.

Unlikely to be brand spanking new. Refurbished would be more likely.

The last Q hardware iteration was the 2019 1TB UHD/HDR release: if the unit you've received is not refurbished then it's probably been sitting on a warehouse shelf since then.

Re: Fed up of trying to update sky a box

Hi many thanks for the reply and it is the most recent box  ,it's not refurbished and sky told me it was new but I now understand it could have been on a warehouse shelf since 2019 ! So if it is just updating the same thing time after time is it better to just leave it?thanks again

Re: Fed up of trying to update sky a box

That is the box I received and was told it was new! But if it has been sat on a warehouse shelf since 2019 is it better just to leave now? I have literally tried over twenty times to update ! .i didn't even know my old box could upgrade so that wasn't touched ever since I got it.

many thanks for help

Re: Fed up of trying to update sky a box

If the box is working just leave it. It only needs to be updated once to bring it up to the latest software. After that if you keep checking for updates it will download and reinstall the current software over and over. The box will update itself automatically when Sky release new software (usually only 3 or 4 times per year) so there is no need to keep manually checking for updates.

Have you checked the current firmware version yet? As suggested in the first reply.
