Sky Q box exchange

Hi My Sky Q box is stuck in the "software updating 1 of 2" loop. Tried all the online trouble shooting and told I need an engineer visit to swap it over, OR pay £99 to get an HDR version. I can't get my head around the logic of paying that for a self install, so just wanted to check that I've been given the correct info, if anyone else has been in the same boat?

You wouldn't be paying for the self install. You'd be paying for the upgrade to a HDR box. The box still remains loaned to you.
