Sky Q box constantly crashing

My Sky Q box keeps crashing.  It's frozen three times in the last hour! Picture freezes followed by an extremely loud 'shuddering' noise until i switch off the TV and box at the wall.  I leave it for a good minute before rebooting.  It's fine once it comes back on until it crashes again. Very frustrating!

@BlueG71 You may need to perform a software update- To do this Press home, go down to settings then to system info- Scroll over to the right and go down to software version. Next to it, there is an option called Setup that you need to press and then software download. By now it should say software update in progress- Usually it takes about 5-10 minutes and it will change to software update successfully. In case the message disappears, go back to the place of the same setting and check. Then press the standby button on the remote and then turn it right back on.  Monitor for the next couple of days and if it happens again contact Sky to book an engineer.

Bloomin' brilliant!  Thanks for the speedy response!

 

Have managed to watch a full night of TV without any interruptions tonight. Just a shame the UK didnt with Eurovision!

 

Will I need to do a software update on my mini box too? Thinking I'll do one anyway to be on the safe side.

Yes my box does the same and sometimes I get pixsolation the engineer told me to reboot the mini box as they are synced together.

 

It does work I rest the mini box once a month

@Charliey @My fix didn't work for long! It happened constantly the following week and, despite all the advice and support from Sky, I had to have (another) new box. This is my third box but have to say the changeover now is really easy and doesn't need an engineer.

No one seems to know why mine every now and again gives pixsolation freezes or just crashes I've had the problem for years with various suggestions and checks as to why but nothing seems to be a permanent fix 🤔 

I've even been intouch with ofcom but they were any help, given up now and just put up with it.

Have had no service since 1st July keeps crashing especially if you try to record anything. They've sent a new box and viewing card numerous phone calls and two days ago a complete reseat taking 1.5 hours. Came home in time to watch Hodgkinson at the Olympics and it's crashed again. No engineer available until 13th August had enough not good enough for nearly £80 a month

I think they aren't interested in sky Q anymore and trying to push people to sky glass, I've noticed that my5 is only available on sky glass.

 

All you can do is persevere but quite agree it's not good
